GreedFall II: The Dying World

GreedFall II: The Dying World

Future Mods to change the combat Possible?
Would it be possible, in the future after release, to create mods to change the combat to something close to the Real Time action of the original game? Maybe even make it Diablo like?

Or is that impossible, and I'd be forever stuck with the Undercooked DA1 style combat?

that wouldn't be a simple mod, you'd have to remake and redesign the entire game for that

The combat is the same. Real Time With Pause in GF1

I dare to say that I even paused the game more times in GF1 than I did in GF2.

also btw when are going to have Real Time With Pause combat in Baldurs Gate 3 (not mods) so that game can be played as it was used to be? :D

GF 1 was action combat with tactical pause. GF 2 is real time with pause and no action whatsoever.

At best I think a mod can tweak the skill trees and fiddle with animation timers and ability costs to create the illusion of a more dynamic experience. But the game will never be anything like the first one. Real action gameplay is impossible. You are only commanding units.

So yeah, the game is stuck with this dead end system forever marking it as a disappointment.
So pretty much you are like 90% of us who want Greedfall 2 with the same combat as Greedfall doesn't look that it is going to happen boss

I absolutely am. I cannot fathom why they made this pivot.

Like, why try this with a direct sequal?

Why take such a risk with your growing (and probably most popular) IP?

It did not look anything like GF 1 on YT gameplay videos. I am not even sure how the combat system rn would play on a controller or Console UI?

And don't get me wrong, I have no issue with RTwP....but I have an issue with it being put into a Greed Fall sequel.

You are correct. It plays nothing like the first Greedfall and sadly it will never be.

That being said it actually plays much better with a controller than it does with mouse and keyboard. Because for some unholy reason they decided not only to ape Dragon Age Origins, but also to draw liberally from KotOR's even worse control scheme. Which means you have to hold a button in order to look around and you have to hold both buttons if you want to move with the mouse. And if you want to play it like an RTS, you have to double click to move for some reason. They did not fix any of that in the update even though many complained.

Controller controls, though a bit esoteric are much better thought out and far more comfortable to use. But you are still essentially commanding units in an RTS.

I don't about you guys, I am a Simple dude and I only play with mouse and keyboard in PC and see no need for controllers (unless its metroidvanias, games like Tekken or Soulslike -games that I do not play) I basically only play PC, used to play with controller only on the PS2, early PS3 days, then I moved to PC 100% only.

The game is a "Prequel Sequel" so its not a big deal for new players who don't know Greedfall world.

Ever since I got my hands on a Steam Controller I play everything with it. Even most strategies.

Disagree. It has a big 2 at the end. This is not a Pillars of Eternity/Avowed situation.

And with the drastic change in a core, arguably the most core, game mechanic, the combat system. It's gonna upset existing fans of GF 1.

Oh god, you still have the visible mouse courser and have to hold down RMB for what is actually ordinary RPG controls? That is probably gonna kill it for me longterm which is very sad because I enjoyed the quests a lot already. But these ridonculous DA Origins controls are just way too immersion breaking. If I want to command units, I play an RTS.
I prefer the combat now to be honest, less stress and i can control it better, the old version was literally hack and slash..

It is not a prequel.
