I played through with Josep Fireseed on easy and with Danielle Fireseed on normal. I had both extra chars when I restarted (char selection).
The audio would completely cut out after certain checkpoints as well. And since ND didn't want to include quick or hard saves like in the remaster for 2, glitches like that softlock the game. Every time you try to reload the level checkpoint they choose for you, the audio will cut out again or enemies will stay frozen in place. You keep reloading the same bug and your save is screwed. Jank like that felt just like 2000 gaming.
I simply don't understand the downgrade in QoL from the last remaster. The remaster of 2 is excellent for $20. I bound quicksave in that remaster to clicking left stick and I could drop the game to do anything, any time. No I have to wait for the game to save for me and it might be corrupt.
All that and no multiplayer make this feel like I got ripped off. Again, before I get banned or warned or anything just for telling the truth of my experience with the Nintendo version; Oblivion himself just stood there at the endgame breathing at me and I had to just quit without the ending cutscene. For $30. No matter how far back they let me load from. And then the sound would stop until a hard game reset...
If they put out a major patch on each platform, add the QoL and multiplayer we just got in Turok 2, fix those ridiculous gamebreaker bugs, then we're all squared up and I feel like I got my money's worth. ND, please stop banning people from the entire community just to spite them for being frustrated with an easily fixable bug. As a 40-year-old that had these carts as a teenager, don't ruin what should be an awesome nostalgic release with that sort of spite. I know I complain a lot and get nasty, but those bugs are like "are you kidding me guys?.."
"Reloaded from starting the opening level with the flesh eaters, playing as Danielle on Normal. I died a few times and had already been playing a while. Learned a few tricks, but had to stop. Came back today, and was confused as a few lifeforce tokens were missing, but didn't think much of it. I think my health was better too. But then the entire drop of items to the first left turn was gone, which includes the RPG pickup. Some enemies missing too, like those in the towers. Very strange save error? May need some investigating. Either way I got further in and I guess I'm handicapping myself without the RPG"
I since also had this happened when I relocated a save mid-chapter. I died, and things reset with life force tokens again. I think something weird is broken where doing a manual reload of a save cuts certain spawns in the code, ranging from enemies, to items and weapons.
After how I found the AI was I refunded the game.

Only had it happen a few times during speedruns. I was playing as joshua (not sure if that matters)
EDIT: Apparently this is not a bug. If you play as Joshua, it will be random as to which version of the dark hanger you get you can either get Danielle's version or Jospeh's version. I've only ever played as Danielle in all this time and everyone run of the game i've only gotten Danielles version of dark hangar.. This might speak to some of the randomness ive seen with monsters spawns in some levels. I.e. in the sewers sections sometimes the only one or two styders will spawn sometimes 5 or more will spawn.
I guess when these are differences in the levels between characters its random which one you get.
You try using the night vision. It's N on the keyboard, or Down on the Dpad if using controller. It loads up Joseph's version of that map for Joshua.
