The N64 version in particular was plagued by technical issues that dragged down the entire experience and tanked ratings, such as criminally awful frame rates and input lag. With these out of the way I'm expecting the game to actually feel a lot better than people remember it.
And how's the gunplay compared to 1 & 2? I had a good time blasting humans in the first one with the explosive shotgun and blood trails while they ragdoll until disappearing. They felt like mini fatalities.
Its super fun to play especially with cheats and just killing stuff but a legit playthtrough is hell.
Turok 3 might be the first i actually finish.
I haven't played this remaster yet, but based on playing them all back in the N64 days this one is a departure from the first two games, which was disappointing to me. I love how Turok 1 + 2 feel like an advancement of the formula of the original Doom/Wolfenstein
Turok 3 plays more like an imitation Half Life and does pretty well. At the time it definitely gave console gamers who didn't have access to a gaming PC a way to scratch that itch.
Its much more linear then it's predecessors and a bit less gameplay since some of the runtime is padded out by cutscenes. I have to admit that I pretty much always hate stories in video games, but I remember this one having some funny campy moments
Also, I remember having a lot of fun with the multiplayer in this game but it doesn't seem like that was brought over in the remaster?
Sure, the game has some flaws here and there if you ask different people, most games do. but not something major in my view. My personal only "big" negative about Turok 3 is the last chapter regarding the way too big explosion radius of the enemy grenades (I hope Nightdive did something here). Beside that, I love this game, it belongs to my childhood and objectively it's a good game. Think of it as Half-Life 1 for N64 with Turok vibes. I think, that describes it really good.
