Exactly as the title says. How scary is the game?

Pretty scary sometimes, Often uncomfortable. quite surprising because games like resident evil don't really scare me but somehow the charming indie with silly graphics gets my heart pumping.

So yes, its quite scary, In my opinion at least

depends what you find scary, for me the game is so cute that I can't really feel scared tbh lol
but it has a wonderful atmosphere

It’s very eerie and unnerving. It’s more of creepy dread due to the phenomenal and immersive soundtrack and occasionally it dives into straight up being scary.

"Comfy Horror" is the best way to describe this I think.

very strange. sanitized soulslikes are coming out that aren't hard like another crab's treasure, and now we're starting to see sanitized "horror" games that aint scary. feel like the only people making anything remotely scary these days are capcom and puppet combo.

What can men do against such reckless bait?
shit May 10, 2024 @ 12:08pm
yeah bait, sure dude, survival horror is only my favorite genre but actually expecting it to be scary as the genre the game claims to be in's pedigree, is bait. by the way if you make a survival horror game and its not scary, it has literally zero value. you create this setting and enemies with a distinct horror vibe, cutting many potential engaging gameplay features to focus on making the game scary and making the player feel helpless, only to completely and utterly fail so now there's nothing happening except walking around a halloween haunted mansion for kids solving boring puzzles.

i bought this one game "Fear the Spotlight" off steam which is now delisted but it wasnt scary so guess what, it was just walking around solving boring puzzles. its just tiring, getting my hopes up and having them dashed, there jsut arent enough survival horror games coming out.

Look man I’m sorry the genre isn’t in a great place for you right now but it’s a broad spectrum of people that enjoy it for different reasons and it might have zero value for you but I’m enjoying it so it has does have value to some people.

Like have you played the game? I think it’s kind of creepy. What exactly are you looking for in terms of horror?

i apologize if i came across as melodramatic or condescending, it was not my intention. i was just looking for a game that takes resource management and tension seriously.

Nah man it’s all good. I get it.
You might be surprised with how creepy Crow Country is. It certainly doesn’t look realistic (obviously lol) but I think it can be pretty unsettling at times. I can’t really speak on how deep the resource management or puzzles are yet though. I’m not super far into the game yet.
