End game questions SPOILERS

So I have 4 main questions about the end of the game.

First why did Crow continue extracting gold from the roots? He clearly knew from the first guest that they were people coming from the future and he ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up their method for transporting. I have read arguments that either he thought maybe he was being forced by marv to keep extracting the gold but Crow doesn't seem like the kind of guy to bow down to violence given his actions in the game, I suppose you could also speculate that he thought he could help them based on the note saying he tried to talk to the next guests but in his own words at the end of the game he knew he ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and KEPT extracting the roots.

The only way I can interpret his words he found out he ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the whole situation and decided to keep screwing it up. Why not try to destroy the portal in order ton at least stop the people on the other side from horribly maiming themselves?

Second is does julie the lawyer recognize mara for who she really is? I might be misremembering but I don't think she ever asks mara for her name and always acts as if she knows who mara is.

Third who is laying out the various traps like the explosive items and gas glasses? The only one I can think of logically again is marv.

Fourth at the end of the game its great that everyone left who was infected and alive get cured but what I want to know is if the portal is destroyed or not? It turned red from Crow's gore at the end sure but but doesn't seem clear if the portal is actually done for.

The Lawyer thing is actually a really interesting, had not considerd that. I think its a safe bet that she recognises Mara, since every other character immediatly suses out that she is lying about everything. Mara just sucks at lying.

The pool at the end retracts all the roots when Crow hops in. I’m fairly sure it’s rendered inactive after that

That makes sense, I saw that on my hard mode run last night and what I see it is Crow traveled to the other side and the future people saw the monster he became and finally closed the portal because they had no idea what was happening on the other side.
