Any recommendations for games similar to this one?
I absolutely adored this game. Do any of you have any game recommendations as far as similar games are concerned? (In terms of tone, themes, atmosphere, and/or game-play?) I hope the silent hill 2 remake ends up being good. :)

Signalis, Alisa, Nightmare of decay, Lost in Vivo, and the Resident Evil titles obviously. all of these are very good games and i love them all.

Yep, all these are very good retro horror throwbacks. To these, I'd add the original PS1 silent hill, but you probably already know that one. Maybe add lunacid for the retro vibe too (same dev as lost in vivo), as it has quite a few horror sequences.

I'd also add
- cry of fear
- IMSCARED
- lone survivor
- darkwood

All very good horror games with retro graphics, and cry of fear is even free.

If you are into a bit of rpg with the horror, I'd recommend fear and hunger 1 & 2 if you're okay with VERY disturbing themes.

If you're not specifically looking for retro graphics, I'd recommend
- tormented souls
- Them and us (basically budget resident evil)

If you're more into the psychological horror, I'd look into Frictional games's catalogue:
- Penumbra Overture & Black Plague
- Amnesia the dark descent
- Soma
- Amnesia the Bunker

If you're into ghosts there's the Fatal Frame and Dreadout series.

I could recommend more survival horror adjacent stuff if you'd like, like with a bit more action, or with more RPG elements like Pathologic 2, but these titles should keep you covered for a while.

in terms of tone + theme? I'd absolutely check out the crow country developers' other narrative games. theyre not the same in gameplay (and not horror, really) but the writing has the same wit and the vians are artistes at creating an atmosphere! but also yeah if youre looking for games like crow country as a whole then definitely listen to the other posters here and not me :steamthis:

if you're going for the simple, straightforward feel i would say the more popular RPG Maker horror games. they're not long and many not even action oriented, lots of puzzles and intriguing stories and characters.

one that comes to mind is Corpse Party. another, while not horror but creatively designed and unique atmosphere is Yumenikki. both available on stream along with many others but there are other free ones out there where people have created for free that are good.

Heaven Dust and Heaven Dust 2. Resident Evil clones with cutesy graphics and more relaxed gameplay. Very very similar to Crow Country. The second game is far better, but I still really enjoyed the first.

Have loved the resident evil games and had my eye on signalis for a while now. These other ones are completely new to me though. Nightmare of decay looks glorious atmosphere wise, lost in vivo looks quite creepy, and wow do I love the aesthetics of Alisa! Thank you for these!

I am surprised I missed "Evil tonight" given that playful art style. iT immediately sparks my curiosity. I will need to keep an eye on those two upcoming ones as well. Especially NIGHTMARE OPERATOR. I appreciate this.

This gives me so much to run with. I loved the penumbra series when it originally came out. (Back when I was in middle school c:) I also love the look of tormented souls in particular. That lighting is stellar and has me curious to see what that atmosphere feels like with headphones.

Cry of fear was also really fun and darkwood looks visually interesting.

I have also always been curious about the fatal frame and dreadout series. Which of those games do you think hold up the best? (Or do you believe are most worthwhile to play in general?)

Lastly, feel free to recommend any and all you like :) I have heard amazing things about Pathologic 2 but have always felt a bit a daunted about how open-ended it looks from the outside looking in. Regardless, I would gladly check it out some time. As well as look into anything else you want to toss my way. c:

My Friendly Neighborhood! You're trapped in a creepy Sesame Street TV studio instead of an amusement park, and it's in first person but the vibe and RE-style gameplay is similar. A good mix of horror and humour.

Lots of great tips. Thanks for them.

Withering Rooms is new and amazing, it's like this but fully 2.5d and a light "roguelite" in that you will lose some stuff on death (but choose what to save, it's very generous on slots) so not really... you will just hear that mentioned. It's mostly just a regular Resident Evil like game similar to this.

Also soul of samurai, but it's a PS1 game and I don't think there's really a way to get it anymore.

It felt like samurai resident evil 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8tlgi3rRN0

Ok, like my review I say this feels Like Resident Evil, was shoved in to Little Big Adventure 2 with a dash of FF7 for good measure. So obvioussly RE and SH, but also I'd say games like Medievil on PS1, little big adventure 1 and 2 on PC and maaaaybe a little Infection on PS2?
