Why are the bookcase's in haunted manor lethal?
So in the game world the traps are understandable probably put there by marv to kill mara, the creatures are another thing entirely, but it is implied by a note that the killer bookcases in the haunted manor are COMPLETELY INTENTIONALLY LETHAL?

Everything else makes sense, the fake shotgun trap, the ventilation being a creature died and is poisoning the air, etc, but the book cases in the context of crow, pike, and tolman designing the park are actually filled with deadly traps that will kill park visitors.

Can anyone please explain to my why this is the way it is?

You forgot about the whole lethal mushroom puzzle where you have to eat both safe and very lethal mushrooms to solve it. Absolutely no reason to have poisonous mushrooms in a theme park.

Pretty sure the bookcase traps got that way from 2 years of neglect. The fire trap should have been two wisps of flame around its nose going about 3 inches, the stabber should stop a couple inches from your face, and the poison mist would have just been water to screw with people, until it got stagnant. As for the mush room, It's a display piece, no one should even be going NEAR them.

Sure yeah nobody should be going near them but in a theme park you always have to expect a dumbass visitor, putting ♥♥♥♥ like DESTROYING ANGELS in the open that liquefies your organs if eaten is a bit wonky.

Maybe the park designer (Douglas Pike) was starting to be a bit crazy after the drowning of his daughter and he started putting in real traps and deadly mushrooms as well as a wax statue of his daughter in the crypt before blowing his brains out.

Did his daughter drown? I don't remember that part I know shes dead but don't think it said how.

I doubt he would do that, he seems like he was a genuinely good person and was pissed at crow and tolman for getting Elaine hurt.

Yes, on the plaque on the bars blocking he coffin it says ''Here lies Ophelia, Tragicallly Drowned, sister, daughter, human''. I think once you open the grate you probably can't see it anymore.

It doesn't make much sense that he would put those traps unless he really went crazy, but since he's the park designer he's the only game character that would be responsible for that decision.

Sure but a lot of the game is designed in a logical way that seems to all be intentional.

All the traps? They only seem to appear after you encounter marvin and as we know he's a huge piece of crap who wants us dead, tolman's puzzle is all about him trying to find a pattern to the future disaster, the whole reason the park is locked up so tight is tolman and crow trying to contain the guests from the outside.

All i'm saying is that everything in the game seems to make reasonable sense at least to me, the shotgun puzzle in haunted hill for example isn't a real shotgun which makes plenty of sense.
