Never buy a game outside of Steam. Most places dont offer refund policies. It wont help you now but I hope you remember this in future bud.

You bought it via their site, then no, no way to refund even though the game is literally a trash fire lol. Lesson learned the hard way, don't buy EA unless it's exclusively through Steam, so you can refund in cases like this...but they knew what they were doing so they could squeeze a few more thousand players of their money like this.

Always wait for the steam protection to get refunds etc never buy from the devs website

It is make you feel better I am in the same situation that you... I did the purchase quickly without pay attention to the details and used the Steam option thinking it is a Steam purchase and I am protected to request a refund later if I don't like the game.. of course it was a bit strange .. why I was not doing this in steam app itself????. I realise later that I was getting a CODE.. too late... I knew just at that moment... I will sweat blood to get a refund in case I get it.... ♥♥♥♥... it is beginning to be frequent this kind of things in the market... I am a KSP2 buyer too... so.. very sad moment... and I will probably stop early access purchase at all... there is people that has seen it is a profitable business...
