Anyway, MMORPGs are meant to eventually be abandoned as players go to play something else.
Just like we switch from any game to another game, so it happens with mmo games too.
Don't expect them to last forever.
MMOs retain a core population which plays it not because the game feels new but because they are fine with having a stable environment, the same every day, every month, with occasional updates. And that core population is for some mmo games too small to worth the effort to keep the servers up or add content. Especially if there are greedy investors behind.
I think the Pax Dei core will have to like building, decorating their environment, trade and interact with each-other. And that's all because we got no other info yet. Maybe the developers are not very decided either.
Thank you for this post, im not gonna buy into this game. I cant see it being popular at all and that is a big selling point for me when buying a mmo.
Thank you for this information.
Heard all this before about other EA mmos. Most of them just fail to a playerbase and dies out. Only difference is that they where atleast cheap to buy into.
These days companies uses EA as a alpha test. I hate the EA concept nowdays so much! Isnt what it was meant to be, But Steam doesnt care as long as they get their cut.
I agree with everything you said. Don’t let people who are overly hyped about something that isnt even finish sale you on the game. I don’t know why people start attacking an actual person because of how they feel about a game, then have the nerve to tell the other person to “grow up”. Huh? I wish I could meet some of these people in real life. Their energy would not be the same.
The world is so so empty, the game is empty, and what is in the game takes way way way to long. Boringgg.
A pretty cool guild was streaming their travels for pvp, it ended up in a 1 hour + walk to the pvp portal, then a 30 min walk to a hotspot for pvp . Then there was no pvp they did a half ass pve dungeon to walk back for an hour and half. in total i think they said they ran for a whoopin 4 hours. Like wtf gamers?
They showed dedication tho. I personaly deinstalled that crap hehe....
I mean C'monnnn
I was directly quoting references you made within your video, or elsewhere on these forums.
If we look at your other Pax Dei video, [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmuDK1Y4F64 ] in which you spawned into Tursan, you opened the world map and you are talking about the different biomes. At the very bottom left corner of your map, there is a biome key which tells you the name of different biomes on the map.
You mistakenly believed that ore only spawns at the point of interest, but in fact ore actually spawns throughout the biome, and you were close to several Scrubland and Land of Stone biomes, both in the home valley and wildlands.
You also acknowledged that the different shrines are respawn points, but no mention of also using them for fast travel purposes which is likely to remain the case until the religion system is implemented and fast travel is superseded by religious altars.
However also in the same video when you were explaining to viewers that they can use the T hotkey to summon corpse, if you go back and watch your own video again, you will see that there is also an option in that wheel for "Shrine"; this was the fast-travel.
In the first closed alpha play test, there were two fast travel options, one to your base and another to the closest shrine. In the second closed play test and the event preview week, there was only an option for fast travel to the closest shrine.
It is not that these mobs are unkillable solo, but it will require some strategy and kiting; so for instance using a bow and arrow to aggro one at a distance, then kiting the group of mobs until all but one has de-aggro'd, to then turn your attention back to that one NPC and be smart about your special abilities, particularly the fact that cooldowns are not shared between different types of weapons.
If you are to run into those places as a solo player, going into melee range, and then trying to spar against the humanoid NPCs spamming basic attacks, then yes you are ultimately going to be nothing but the NPC's punchbag.
Of course there will still be certain NPC's that you probably wouldn't want to be trying to solo at all on count of their range and abilities, such as a Zebian Trickster.
In terms of boars, you can one-hit multiple of them with a single attack immediately after crafting the "pointy stick". The jab special ability can strike multiple opponents simultaneously and one-hits boars, using the starter weapon only.
As for fighting bears, then you would want to make use of the terrain around you; there are many natural safe spots where you can hunt bears safely, without having to place down a plot (which in itself would then run the risk of killing that respawn point or pushing it away).
The crafting tree recipes will be dependent upon which recipes you have discovered; much like at the start of your game, when you acknowledged picking up tree branches and gneiss rocks (pronounced "nice" by the way, not "je-nes-is", just FYI), were unlocking a bunch of recipes at game start.
As for shortcuts and bridges and such, there are actually quite a lot of natural shortcuts in the terrain; though they may not be immediately noticeable and will require discovering if you want to find different locations where you can cut through mountains safely as opposed to travelling around them.
But again, all of these different issues are down to play style. In many cases, as you are quite new to the game, you actually made it more difficult for yourself, but that's part in parcel of why it's important to actually explore the game if you really want to learn about it and improve in it, and like I said before, nobody is going to learn it all on their first couple of runs, it will take time.
For instance, there were a few people who would make comments on the stamina system during gathering - though in some cases people will be trying to chop trees without any food buffs, thus sitting on the 50 stamina. Or other cases where people will have eaten basic raw foods, or health-focused foods for a stamina-focused task; but a gatherer's most optimal accompanying skill is within the herbalism tree, not cooking, charcuterie, winemaking, brewing or baking.
uhh ok.
I dont know if Pax Dei will succeed, time will tell, and as i said, i will wait for full release and then decide if i give it a chance, but to apparently been a full time youtuber, you have the IQ to those people "this game is dead" " this game will fail" people, which mainly is underage kids with way to muttch free time. you dont come out as someone having a clue what they talking about.
In your eyes no games stand a chance, MMO is a tough marked to get into this days. Its hard to obtein 1mill + players, i will say its a suceed if they overtime can have 15-20+k players, but you wont call it a sucess until they have 1mill+ players.
Its not becouse of what hes feels about the game, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, but its becouse he says this as its the only truth, and that everyone should think the same. and using hes youtube channel as a way to "prove" that he is right lol.
I can't believe people are taking advice from him when he has no clue what he's saying from minute to minute.
No wonder the gaming community is so bad these days if they are getting advice from rage babies like the OP.
All this cuz he didn't get a free game lol.
