Limited areas to Build Explained

From watching the streamers, it seems that player are now limited to where they can build.
This is a huge Negative for me and maybe others,

True that i get it that player should not be able to build near Towns, POI, or Resources, But to have an entire mountain, or River area off limits to build is a Big No for me. Open World Should allow players build build where they want, if it doesnt effect the Above points.

I was in Beta and I can tell you this been a thing since early beta, some places you just can not build and that is ok because we have about 75 square miles we can build on so why worry?

From what i saw, Asmongold wanted to build on top of a mountain with his clan, They all walked over to it, climb it, over 10kms of it and could not build anywhere on it, their were no trees, or ores, or Gain to farm their, Yet they could not build.
So any one saying you can build somewhere else, or that its early access, the game comes out in 3 days, yes into EA, they said they are wiping all servers,

So can a Dev come on, and clarify will they allow us to build where we want If it doesnt not interfere with POI or resources?

I'm not going to lie, not being able to make a mountain base would make me not play anymore. During the first two alphas I made an awesome mountain base with incredible views. If we're just limited to valleys and building next to 100 other players/living in ghettos I'm gonna give it a pass

You can do a mountain base, but not outside the heartlands. That is the safe build area and in that area are a lot of high mountains you can build one, like Asmon did in Alpha 2. But around the heartlands is the higher level more dangerous area, there you can not build yet. As far I understood it this area will be later an area for Clan battles etc. where you then can build on but also your buildings can get destroyed. But that will come later in EA after other features. We should see a roadmap around next week.

I recall what you're referring to.

Asmon had travelled into the wildlands and then picked a mountain area there, but there were other options in the home valleys where they could have went too if looking to build up on a mountain.

It has always been the case that base building (at the moment) is confined inside home valleys, so that's not a new change or anything.

What you are referring to is Alpha 1 where they went outside the home zone and tried to build. The Wilderness area is a pvp build area (not yet implemented) so they had to return to the homeland and build an amazing castle. In Alpha 2 they build on the side of a mountain and again created an amazing massive build the only thing that stopped them is they hit a plot cap limit as they had 1000+ players with 2 plots each.

So for the vast majority of groups of players this simply isn't going to arise as an issue.

As for wipes they have been incredibly open about it - it's a beta launch not all features are present in game some major systems are yet to be added, the kingdoms (pvp siege) system, the trade system, the religion system, fishing, farming, mounts/fast travel etc all major systems they will add over the coming year(s).

A founders pack now will get you hundreds of hours of entertainment and the full game on release I don't see why all the doom mongers don't want people who enjoy this sort of game to enjoy it.

To be honest, i like the game ideas, and primes, and would want to play and support the devs, But many ppl have been Burned before with Devs over promising.
ATM these game devs are asking Full price for a game that is only offering 4 core mechanics (Gathering, Building, Crafting, and Basic Combat) at EA, with the promise for more.

So yes, Buyer beware, take note and be cautious are being noted by many ppl,

As for me i will wait till the game is out after the 18th, and see how well those features work, and where i am able to build. Paying full price for a Promise of more, is always a risk, and everyone can decide for themselves after they see what they are offered on the 18th of june.

Good post, but a little correction: it is still an Alpha launch. A lot of main features is completely missing so it can't be an beta, a beta is very nearly feature complete.

Calling it a beta leads new players in with a false idea of what state the game is in. Sad enough that even Asmongold called it a "beta" as he player the "alpha 2", what even stood on the left top corner. XD

Its up to you - if you dont give the game and yourself a chance - it is your problem not others or the game ones. Game is not even on early access and you allready give up? Sad.
