Pax Dei

Pax Dei

Unable to connect through Steam
Anyone else having problems launching the game? I see 800+ people logged in through Steam, so looks like most are in.

I click "Play" from the Pax Dei Steam page and the game begins to launch with Initializing, Waiting for Game, Unreal Engine Logo, New Tales Logo, Mainframe Logo, then I see the Pax Dei Early Access Screen, and two seconds later, the game entirely closes down, and I'm back to the Steam App as if I did nothing.

This has been going on for a few days and I thought, no problem I'll wait for a fix. A few days ago, nobody was able to log in... Now I see people in the game, yet I'm still having issues.

I'll create a ticket thru Pax Dei, but also wanted to check here.

did you try to restart your Steam?
theshawv Feb 1 @ 11:48am
I have been contacting tech support for over a week now and I can not log on either thru steam, I reinstalled the game 3 times, per the tech team , did everything they told me to do, The last communication I had was "We fixed conectivity issues on steam try it now." Same problem, start thru steam and it shuts itself off. Ran as admin, restarted steam, computer, updated every driver/ software nothing helps.

If this happens now and they can not track it down in a week, im afraid to see what will happen in the future. It can not be that hard to figure out whats wrong between steam and their servers. Tech said yes we see you have the master pack so ok on their end, steam says yes I have the master pack, I played 600 hours but now it just doesnt work?

I sure hope someone takes this seriously.

If you have a 4090, Try updating your GPU drivers to the version that released on Jan 30th. This seems to be working for many others.

If your issue is still ongoing and started on 30.01., please update your graphics drivers to the latest version. If the issue persists, please open a ticket on our support site [support.playpaxdei.com].

I have been talking with devs thru email for almost 2 weeks everyday, they come up with more things to try and nothing seems to work. I sent all the log files, reinstalled the game 3 times, updated my drivers, restarted my computer, even prayed a little but nothing has changed the fact that when I start Pax it goes thru to the waiting on game... then shuts down. I have verified I have the master pack on steam, they verified I have it also on their end. I have over 100 games on steam and everyone of them runs fine. Just need a closer look into it.

Did you also disable your anti-cheat tools for testing? This resolved the issue for another player. Unfortunately, we're limited in the help we can provide here on steam since we can't view the error logs. For this reason, submitting a ticket is the best option, even though it may take some time.

So while digging around trying out the various fixes on here (uninstalled RGB controller, validated files, updated drivers, reinstalled the game, etc) I accidentally ran Pax Dei.exe directly instead of via steam and...it works! Is Steam the problem?

So in the end I had to disable my antivirus to get Easy Anti Cheat to install properly. What kind of company puts out a product that gets snagged by antivirus apps? A malware company. All games that I've seen use EAC still have plenty of cheaters so whats even the point?

Why are you still using an Anti Virus Tools in 2025? :VGIRL:
Most of those things are so outdated, that they give so damn many false positives. You can also see it in this case. It is not the companies fault to take steps against cheaters. It is the fault of your faulty tool that is giving false positives because it does not get feed enough data. Windows Defender is sufficient.

...Windows Defender is sufficient.

Windows Defender is anti-virus. We all 100% need anti-virus + a perimeter defense like a decent firewall. If you disagree, then you are probably already infected.
Ugh... anti-virus software.

It's bloatware and adware people. You don't need it.

I had a problem starting the game, when I started it I had a black screen and nothing else. I tried stopping avast and tramtararaaa. it works. thanks

Windows Defender is all you need. But this is clearly not what the player wrote about ;)

And the latest entry from Incubus actually underlines the issue with all the false positives of those 10000 anti virus tools nobody needs anymore :steamsad:

Yeah so I've been trying to play the game as admin, have anti-virus turned off, changed the file ending from dll to bak as in one YT video. And nothing... still an error...
F3NR!S Feb 24 @ 7:27pm
I have tried disabling antivirus, that didn't help. Tried the .bat file as admin, nothing, it would flash on the screen for like a microsecond then disappear. Launched from the .exe file, got all the way to the sign in screen...unfortunately since i bought the game on steam and tried to bypass launching through steam, failed because steam not present... Any thing else i can try? :steambored:
