Most are related to some kind of progression:
- leveling character or skills
- becoming better at crafting
- getting rich by transporting and trading
- farming mobs to get resources in dungeons
Some might not be about progression:
- participating in holiday special events
- doing jumping puzzles
- exploring and solving lore related mysteries
- role playing
- watching others doing PvP
- playing tavern games
- farming
- breeding animals to get better traits
- defending villages against NPC invasions
I think these developers can keep working 3-4 years to make the world simulation better. Or more because they say "It’s the game of a lifetime."
Ideally Pax Dei should retain more players, reduce map size and create some trading hubs where players meet, to give the feeling of a populated server.
How they're driving away players faster than any game with their increasing of grinding skills and locking out items that were once already unlocked to make it more of a grind so you can no longer play unless you join a mega clan and have one player working on a particular skill and have 20 other players farming mats for them. Pax is no longer an enjoyable rewarding crafting game. It's becoming a full time job for no lifers that can play 24/7.
If they want to increase the population, they have to make the game much more interesting for players who refuse to join big guilds controlled by streamers than for those streamers and their followers.
And they have to adjust the game in just a way that wipe to be unnecessary at 1.0
Okay good, I am not the only that was thinking this. Game is becoming an assembly line job for some reason. Not sure somebody hates players and thinks we should be robots.
Wurm was around long before it even made its way to steam and yes it has its own launcher... But I won't kid you Wurm is not the most bustling with activity game...
In Wurm if you make an effort and try you will find other players, in wurm you will run into other players if your not trying maybe once a day....
However in Pax Dei you will run into another player maybe once a month... Unless it just recently had a patch...
Wurm has tons of content, the best Farming in an MMO, the best Animal Husbandry in an MMO... And it also has a grind that makes Korean games blush...
I have played it over 10 years and my ancient characters only has a handful of 99 skills...
Wurm is not a game where you master a skill in a week, nor a month, nor even a year...
Actually that is part of Wurms charm if your being honest with yourself...
In Wurm you can actually be the Best at something, In other MMO's everyone can be on par with everyone else because the bar is not that hard to obtain... but in Wurm their is always someone better at something then you because they have been working at it longer and harder then you have...
And even if you managed to reach 90'ish Armorsmithing... You need the resources of quality to match and resources are finite... That 99 QL Iron vein your city sits on top of only has so much iron in it and once its empty those other two 70 QL veins of iron won't make anywhere near as good of equipment....
Wurm for me sits alongside Ultima Online Pre Trammel and Star wars Galaxy's Pre NGE as
one of the three greatest MMORPG's to ever exist...
100% agree and more. If they could just make Wurm look like PD. Full terraforming including mining, can fully dig a tunnel through a mountain and your gonna find some wicked ♥♥♥♥ in there....because its a mine. Sailing around your home map...sailing between different unique servers. I think Wurm solved a huge economy problem with the game supported monetary system where the building plots were kept up with in game currency or a cash option. It made the gold and silver have real weight and made it so exploring and selling things could pay for your plot making the full game experience basically free if you just play the thing.
Still grindy, the whole genre needs to get over that. Make crafting a skill based mini game so that you actually have to be good at it to make top tier equipment. Each profession could have a different style of challenging mini game with unique mechanics. <---This all day cmon. I would rather spend 10 minutes slaving away over one mediocre item to skill up, and be able to get better at it, than 10 mins afk at a table watching a countdown. Would bring a human element into it and there would be good crafters and not so good crafters. Kinda like rl but totally useless at least it would be fun.
Good to meet you.
I have no idea what is going through their heads, but they certainly are not listening to the player base.
