Iron Pickaxe

I made a iron pickaxe and found some Iron nodes assuming I would finally be able to harvest.
Too hard?? So I need steel pickaxe to mine Iron?
How does one get wrought Iron if not with a iron pickaxe?
Bronze Pickaxe = Impure Node
Iron Pickaxe = Iron Node
Steel Pickaxe = Pure Node
would be my assumption?

Wrought Iron Chopping Axe is the best axe for chopping trees.
& you dont need any steel to create it.

I stand corrected.
There is a steel chopping axe that is better, but I am not to that level yet. You need to get to level 34 to just unlock it.

I guess they bumped up the difficulty for wrought iron pick axes to unlock at level 18.
good thing I had a few sitting in my inventory *phew*

Just so you know your situation is much worse: if you can't craft it, you won't be able to repair it.

Level 18!! It took a lot of time to get to level 10, Whats the point of Iron axe even if it doesnt allow the next tier of nodes to be farmed.
I hope they adjust this game. Until this point I was loving it.

The iron pickaxe is still unlocks at level 10.
The wrought iron pickaxe unlocks at 18 now.
If you are at level 10 or higher weapon smithing. you should have the recipe for iron pick axe.

I am able to repair my iron axes on a new character and I am no where near able to make bronze axes yet

It's strange. I can't. Maybe it's because I don't have a 2nd level worksmith station on my new base.

Your character does not need to unlock the recipe for high tier gear to repair it. You only need access to the workstation capable of producing the said gear.

I got a few items from public chests (weapons, cloak, some armour) which I cannot make myself, but I repair them just fine using T2 workstations.

I do have the Iron Axe. It took crafting like 300 iron spears to unlock it. I walked good chunk across the map and seen my first Iron Node. Not impure, but Iron. I strike it and it says too hard. I was pretty disappointed to say the least.
I am still enjoying the games building and I do realize this is early access. I wish they would have done something a bit less grindy when it comes to the blacksmithing. The carpentry isnt to bad.
