No subs for at least a year (probably longer). If you did not like the game, why not do a refund within 2 hours on steam?
LMAO Kudos to you for sharing that. That had to sting just a little.
Aha, so you have no better argument as this is a conspiracy theory. With that you can put really everything down. Fact is, and the developer has not contradicted this, that other programs are installed alongside the game, which are not uninstalled even after the game is uninstalled, remain on the PC and are for data collecting.
It's players like you that are the reason why we're screwed up. Always don't give a sh*t, no matter if we are early on something bad or way too late.
There is a difference between sporadic data leaks and specific targeting of individuals. For example there was a data leak of those in the military in UK (that was blamed on China). No one was considered to be at threat. Because unless they were involved in war crimes or something, no one would be interested in some random soldiers details unless they wanted to sell them a claim for PTSD.
Since you asked why I would not just give out my address online, I actually made that mistake once some years ago when I was drunk. Ended up with two stalkers watching my house, who I only found out about because they got into a scuffle with each other. I'm actually on onlyfans, but I don't use social media. So no one could connect my videos to my real name or location, unless by some weird chance they were my neighbour or a delivery driver and recognised me. Thankfully I am no where as famous as some idle influenzas and don't wish to be.
Either way what I'm trying to suggest, is that someone can either have your photo or video or they can have all your personal details. It only becomes a recipe for disaster if they can match both together.
If you live in a country that will refund you if someone manages to withdraw money from your bank account and spend it on crypto, then its more a nuisance than anything.
Seriously I am more worried about my own government knowing too much about me than I am about a foreign power. The enemy more often is within the gates, not outside them.
About programs that remain when you uninstall a game, no one has a problem with easyanticheat remaining behind even if you delete its folder, but if a game from another country does the same thing, oh the horror.
I have never played once human, so have no interest in defending it. In the past people used to check their back seat when driving, or under their bed for communists. Now the boogeymen are all meant to be online desperate to infiltrate the lives of average jane and joe to turn them into bloodthirsty lefties and revolt against their government.
Most games at this stage offer this type of DLC or account upgrade per character not per account. I fail to see the point in having four characters with only two plots to split between them.
Of course by this time the 14 day/2 hour play time has expired and Steam has denied any refund, even back to the wallet. Sad...on both levels.
Once Human will rely on this if it doesn't already now.
I will gladly pay a subscription if it ensures a quality product free of microtrans.
That is why Plots Cost Money.
Your not understanding that bases get routine wipe in once human. It's like rust. If having more than one plot for base was useful. Everyone would just spam alt accounts and block off vast areas.
I usually prefer cash shop over subs. But in this case, it would just allow selfish players to buy up account CD keys, so they can spam huge bases with 40+ plots. Because all they care about is trying to compensate for a small pp.
Too many people are interested in our private data because it is worth hard cash, and with hard cash we know what people are capable of. Morals are quickly thrown overboard and none of them are concerned about people's safety, all what count for them is making money. But not having social media is a good start. I have only X, but use it in a very limited way.
Easy Anti Cheat is well known, shows itself at the start of the game and makes no secret about itself. That software used in once human seems to have a very cryptic name so you need to do a search to find out what it is. It feels like they want to disguise its purpose.
Pax Dei has limited plot space, and is intended to be very interactivity-heavy so that can pose a major problem. The devs have already wiped unused plots in EA once and it hasn't even been out for a month. Wiping plots in live will not be as simple because they won't be able to use the EA status as cover.
People whine about charging per-plot but we have NO IDEA how much is planned per plot if they do go that route. EVE Online is $20/mo, historically MMOs are $15/mo, so you can expect Pax Dei to be in that range. It is not only possible, but probable, that they would charge less than the above amounts for a single plot. My thinking is $5-$10 per plot.
This would not only let the devs control the land acquisition a bit (because some of you will STILL whine about paying for land and refuse to do so) but also allow some flexibility for players that don't have the money to spend. They have also flat-out said they want to add limited free access. They have also flat-out said that charging per plot allows them a way to "free up land once players leave the game (or become ‘inactive’)".
If you're fine with a flat monthly fee but not something more flexible, arguably more optional, and based on something other than simply existing then you really need to learn what critical thinking is and how to utilize it. If you expect a game to be free (no sub, no P2W, no micro-transactions, no gacha) then you should probably take a business or economics course or three and stop talking about finances until you pass them.
The number of entitled players in games these days with 0 knowledge of how a business is run or a game is developed posting about things they don't understand these days is astounding.
This whole thing reminds me of Helldivers 2.
People always get very pro data-protection when it involves a game they do not like. (or need to make a point)
And then the moment they get off their soapbox they go back to playing plenty of other games that harvest your data or use kernel anti-cheat, ordering food to their homes. signing up for news letters (to get an alpha test key for a game) etc etc.
If you're on the internet in 2024, congratulations. your data has most likely all been leaked already. now you either deal with that and keep doing the things you enjoy or you leave the internet and go live off-grid somewhere.
So a mostly server sided game, vs a client/server about 50/50 split. (Bonus rust is the same, but way less player count.)
Also, notice at phase one servers, how densely packed it is? Hard to ever place down a "camp" in a reasonable spot.
Shooting and hit boxes client side. Wait till everyone starts using an aimbot
