Leatherdroprate will make people leave
I really enjoy a nice grind but the Animal Hide droprate is just a slap in the face.
I understand if you have to grind for something special, but to grind for animal hide you need for all Armorsmithing and Leatherworking recipes is just stupid.
I start to feel the devs made this totally absurd low droprate to make people grind longer so they have time to implement new stuff before people leave who did it all......

I personally will stop playing until its adjusted since it totally kills the gaming eyperience to grind 20 blackbears for 4 Large animal hide.

Hello Paxians,

We know that some bears (black and grey) do not seem to drop more Hides contrary to what has been mentioned in the patch notes.
We are currently looking into this and will update you as soon as possible. In the meantime, brown bears, stags, bucks and rabbits are your best foes.

That's what I assumed too. Especially when devs said they "might" wipe character progression or buildings during Early Access.

Its an interesting question, how difficult the game shall be?

Until T2 basically all crafts, with exception of jewelry, are relative easy.

Then it starts suddenly to get difficult, pure iron ore, animal hide, better gems, certain herbs or mushrooms ... .

On the other side it means you have still something to go for. To play around with. To discover where and how you can get the resources you want in the most efficient way.

Further it facilitates teamplay. Farming animal hide alone is possible, but a pain. WIth a small team, within the right areas its ok.

And for me bears are not the most efficient way. There are areas with groups of growlders, grand old boars and direwolfs. Killing those seems to me more efficient, than going for bears.

wolf caves with growlers give me good drop rates on t2 hides.

Yea, leatherworking is extremely difficult to level past level 20. They need either to increase the orange hide drop rate, or to introduce a recipe that transforms normal hides into orange hides. Fletching and jewelcrafting need some love too, and herbalism needs to be made active at some point. :)

I agree. Orange hides are just to much. Grinding for hours sometimes just to get 10 seems a bit excessive to me idk.

The drop rate are still WELL below of of the other major tradeskills. I 10-20 Animal Hides every 30 minutes to an hour in the big wolf cave which refines into 5-10 of the actual Boiled of Fine Leather I need to craft. Compare that to T2 Iron which I can get a full inventory of in an hour. Hell, I can even get T4 Pure Iron Ore at a rate of around 400-600 Iron in an hour depending on who else is farming it.

Not only is the drop rate stupidly bad, but it's used by other tradeskills.

To me, at this point I agree with the opening poster. I think this is an intentional kick in the balls by the developers to slow the progression of the game.

I'm personally going back to Soulmask and probably will pick up Once Human today until they either admit it was intentional or at least say they made a mistake and put a decimal place in the wrong spot because I'm not going to spend HOURS a day sitting in a tree or on boulders shooting Dire Wolves and Bears in the corrupted forest to get T2 hide at a rate of about 1 in 5 kills (this is my current method which is faster than the wolf cave but still stupidly slow).

The opposite is the case. All before Level 20 is too easy. We are 3 weeks into the Early Access and many people already have the best stuff. But this is an MMO where all should take longer.

What is the meaning of having crafting different tiers, when all players are after some weeks have only need for the highest tier? That way all lower tiers have no value at all and are only in for some days of progression for the players, what in the end will be maybe 1% of their play time, if they play some months.

So where is the progression after one month? And that is why all is too fast. Actually all is so fast that players start to grind to the crafting jobs.

Orange hide drop rates is the main reason me and my friends stopped playing.

When you put a wipe at the end of it, it really changes and alters the point of it all. Do you really think someone is going to spend weeks or months grinding it out only for them to start completely from scratch after a wipe?

I dont know if something changed since few days but I have same feeling - today out of 41 bears - 12 hides. Last time the drop ratio was over 50%.

Yea the drop rate is great. Half of the cave won't spawn and you get 200+ rough hide and only 4 animal hide. Thats not a great drop rate. Sword n Shield level 41....

After the wipe, I will NEVER do leatherworking again.

That was my whole point. Players shouldn't grind it out, they should simply play and progress comes from alone by playing it. Without this dumb thinking "I need to grind as much as possible to get the best stuff as quick as possible". But sure, for that it has also too less content/features right now.
