I don't mind if it's a sub game but if it's too much, cough, Eve Online, cough, then I'll probably not play it.
Likewise I started early in the 80's as a pre-teen and have played a fair number of games along the way. And would agree that subscription games have offered the best experience. I would call out Star Wars Galaxies.
Look at every example of every MMO that has gone from sub to ftp. OP your are correct.
I've played many games that went f2p and they became hot garbage in a few months. Meanwhile 20+ year old sub games are still going.
I thought they said that it would likely be a sub to claim and build. That would be the only reason that I'd like there to be a sub.
I feel the same, Doomed! The games we played for years , not months, had subscriptions. Don't mind it at all, especially if, as you mentioned, it keeps out the trolls/griefers/farmers that are such a big part of the 'free' games without a monthly sub. The last Alpha for PxD was so much fun...EA is still promised for Spring. Can't wait!!!

It sure looks like fun. I haven't been invited for any testing but I've watched alot.
I'm hoping I can build me a little hunting cabin up in the mountains and be a trapper lol.
Ttyl buddy.

Heya ol' friend!! It's SOooo much fun!! You can definitely get to stockpiling hides and selling them from your little hunting cabin with a view; everything uses them. Heck, I'll buy 'em with trade goods from our little village. If we end up on the same shard and you're into ranged, I can set you up with pretty much anything you need from my little fletching station
Send me a PM here when you get a chance! I'll have to go look to see if I still have your Discord info....

Can't wait to work together.
PM via Steam sent sir! I think you cleaned up your Discord; I don't see it there anymore. I sent you my info as well. Would be great to see you in the chat at least as a guest, about designing the walls and layout of the village (we have several allied clans involved).
I wonder if the only time a subscription will come into play is when you're wanting to build in the world. I'm looking forward to learning more about what model they're aiming for...if it's, "Pay a subscription fee in order to have access to plots and persistent player-made buildings in the game", well...that's kind of a major point of having such a world --> we get to change it and mold it as we mature in the regions/provinces in which we've chosen to live.
One of my friends was kinda whining about paying a monthly sub. I just pointed to the Starbucks he was holding and shrugged

I'll get you a invite tomorrow bud.
It will be interesting to see how the sub model goes. I'm ok with whatever direction it goes as long as the game is good and holds my attention.
Where can I get it so it can be 501?
Only if I get to be number 502 playing! That last alpha had 100k invites sent. People were EVERYWHERE on the Eastern Part of the map where we were at on that second shard. It was really cool to see the enthusiasm and chat going on!
Since there wasn't salvage in the game yet to recover raw materials, I was handing out goodies as I ground up fletching to anyone that needed them; that totaled at least a hundred or so in our neighborhood. Those other 400 were probably scattered around somewhere in that huge world Mainframe made

(PS: Doomed, I messaged you via Steam chat...)
