Black screen and red dot artifacts
I like the game however I have a serious issue where occasionally every 10-15 seconds the screen will go black, the music cut out, and then it comes back.
The other visual issue is I have what looks like red dots over some of the screen. It's weird. It looks like dead pixels, except it moves around.
I've got a geforce 1070 running window 10 and I've never seen an issue like this before with any other game.
I think I may have to refund this game as it's somewhat unplayable right now

prolly clean install the right drivers for your 1070. sounds like it's artifacting though. you should pull up overlay and have it display advanced stats for your GPU so you can see if it's getting pegged hard. it might be overheating. card is fairly old. it likely needs to be cleaned and respasted if it's overheating (could be the case/environment). make sure the fans work all that. it's a ue4 game so should run fine.

EDIT: works fine on my 1050ti

Greetings,
I am also running the game with a 1070fe on windows 10.
I am not having those issues, but they do sound like a GPU begging for help or crying out a warning ...

Yeah that is not the good kind of artifacts. I would just straight up not risk playing this game for a bit maybe. Try it again in 3 months see if it still does it after updates.

I have only ever seen artifacts like that when hardware is about to die.

What I find confusing is that if I restart the game a few times it'll work perfectly fine for that gaming session. This is why I think it's the game and not the graphics card.

Or the issue stop once the card has heated up a bit from loading up the game multiple times.

Simple fact is software issues show up in certain ways. Black screen with light speeding red pixels is not one of those ways.

Thats how hardware issues show up. Best to take it easy on your card me thinks. playing optimized Unreal games is probably not a good plan.

In my experience, that's your graphics card overheating. When you see this you should definitely stop playing whatever you're playing, because you're likely going to damage your GPU by continuing to run it hot. You will probably need to reduce your graphics settings to play this on your current hardware. You might also want to take a can of compressed air and clean out all your fans/radiators in the computer if you haven't done that in a while, just be careful not to allow a fan to spin when cleaning it as this can generate current and damage your computer.

So good news, it's not the graphics card. I ran furmark for 30 minutes with no issue.

The issue was running on too high a resolution that didnt match the monitor. I don't know why the game allowed me to run at one resolution higher than my system allowed but now I've matched the monitor, no more artifacts or glitching!

Good to hear, and yeah thats odd it set wrong refresh rate / res. You on a VGA monitor?

Wow! Thankfully it wasn't the GPU. I have a Korean? Viotek 1440p curved monitor that I purchased a few years ago. It does some weird screen artifacts when the refresh rate or resolution doesn't line up. Glad that bullet was dodged though.

It's a curved dell S3422DWG monitor plugged in with hdmi.

It's a weird issue but I'm super glad it's working now! Now I can try and work out how to play the rest of the game!

Thank you all for your assistance.

changed from high res to a lower resolution and also switched to windowed. Works better for me only one crash in like 6 hrs.
