Did it with all my saves, it didn't have any effect. equip in my workshop, and any productive building even in alchemy, and then purposely deplete one of my resource, and cant build any of the items that require that resource.
Edited : just tried it again with my latest save, still doesn't work, the resource needed are used and when I cancel the build process, the resource didn't return.
Edited part 2 : it seems that you GOT to have THE REQUIRED AMOUNT first then it wont used it on the built, or it wont have any effect.
I have one full tier factory producing green tier of each of the 3 basic resource with the corresponding chaos thingy added. You MAY need at least the required basic amount of white tier resource to start producing, but it does seem like they work. I set those full manned, full-slotted factory to produce forever and my basic resources would have drained out if it really uses them.
I won't recommend mixing more than 1 chaos thingy to one factory. You get better efficiency if you just use one factory to produce a single kind of green tier resource.
