i can't find any way to get it working.
I've got Windows 8
Intel i5 3570k
8GB ram
AMD 6950 crossfire.
really can't play it with low res muddy textures...
I had to disable drossfire, and then i was able to change the texture quality.
The game probably can't read over 2GB's of VRAM and will think that there is under the minimum needed, so won't let you change the textures.
A similar thing happens in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, except in that case the game will not let you use a resolution over 1280x1024.
Don't know if it'll work for you, but that was my solution.
Anyone have anything else that might help? I loved this game, the 7th was a huge dissappointment for me, a bit sad if I can't play it properly just after getting it on Steam :/
I tested this on two separate computers -- one running Win 7, the other Win 8 -- the Win 8 machine had a GeForce 560 Ti with 1 Gb of VRAM, and the Win 7 machine had a GeForce 760 GTX with 4 Gb of VRAM -- and the Win 8 machine was constantly able to generate the slider options, and generate the right textures for this game.
There really needs to be some sort of work-around to "fool" the game into thinking you have 2 Gb of VRAM or less. The default textures are pretty poor, but the highest resolution textures are nice and sharp.
