Game doesn't launch windows 7 x64

i just got this game and when i go to launch the game screen go black then in returns to desktop every time you select the game tab again i repeats, goes black seconds later back to desktop i'm confused and irritated can some one please help.

I can't help with that except to tell you that it runs on my pc with win 7 x64.

You might try uninstalling it and reinstalling.
It is more likely your video card than windows.

nah don't worry i fix it by going into the option in the files and starting it in windowed then going back to fullscreen works fine now!

Try running it in compatibility mode for windows xp SP 2.

find the config in the files in the steam libiary

i needed 70MB space for a graphics adapter? not sure but i did something (i can't remember what) but it started playing.

An answer to almost a two year old question.

Locate your "THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire" Folder in Documents, and the top most Folder there should be named "Config." Nagivate into this folder where a configuration file is there. Two Files should be there. Options and Sound. Options is the configuration file you want.

Open the Options file, and near the bottem of the text is " Windowed=0 " change the 0 to 1, save and you have done it.

Summary: Documents>THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire>Config>'Options' Configuration file>Change 'Windowed=0' to 'Windowed=1' >Save and close window and file browser>start game>enjoy windowed mode
