The Sttlers Eastern Realm Mission 6

I am busy with The Settlers Eastern Realm Mission 6. I have now opened the wall and have started trading with two of the friendly towns. Iam now asked to build a road to connect my city with one of the other cities. I have tried everything but nothing happens. How do I build this road to proceed?

I had the same problem. I just kept destroying and rebuilding bits of road and it eventually worked. During this time I managed to get my knight up to an archduke so it's sort of worth milking for a little while. You won't be attacked or anything if that's the only quest you have active.
