HYENAS

HYENAS

Can someone explain to me what "ESG scores" are?
Whenever a game like Hyenas, Forspoken or Saints Row 22 is made, that has such a ridiculously tone-deaf character design and boring, execrable gameplay, and a cash-grab business model, I often find myself wondering... WHY? Like, who signed off on this idea and thought it would sell? "How do you do, fellow kids?" indeed.

I often here words like "ESG scores" and "Vanguard / Blackrock" thrown around when a game like this comes out, but my attempts to find out what they actually are have been stymied by the ridiculous number of conspiracy theories around them. Often, those conspiracy theories have strong anti-semitic or anti-woke slants, making it hard to tell if there's any truth to them at all.

Can someone explain to me, ideally with cited evidence, what "ESG scores" actually are, how they affect gaming, and why terribad games like this keep getting greenlit?

Disclaimer; I am bisexual and have a large number of yuri and trap games in my library, so I certainly am not anti-woke myself. My problem has nothing to do with "diverse" games, but with BAD games, and the "diverse" characters in games like this are often just as stereotypical as the bald white space marines they seek to replace.

"Yuri" and "Trap" are not "Woke". "Woke" is a Yuri game where the characters are of all different races despite the creator not having an intent for this visually.

People who blame woke or ESG try to insert their political grievances into every discussion. Since their understanding of the term woke is nebulous at best, they can apply it to almost anything.

There is nothing woke about this game. A corporation with an annual revenue of $248.9M making a game about sticking it to rich is peak capitalism. It takes a special kind of cynicism to profit from hatred of your own class.

There is also nothing woke about yuri and "trap" games. It's just fetishism of lesbians and trans people.
