Marble
Hey there!

So I started a new career, and I found a roadblock:

I can't expand my forum as I need more marble. I have not found any place to build a quarry. I have no external quarries where I can import it.
I tried to go to the world map, just in case I can import it from Italy, but every time I try, the game crashes into the desktop, so I can't even try (and I am just guessing it would work).

Any ideas/tricks about how to get marble?

PS: restarted game, and it went into "world mode". I see this is where I can recruit theatre/do missions, etc. Cool, but that won't solve my most immediate problem: I ran out of marble, and I don't know any way of restocking it!

Marble is one of the later ressources, on many maps you can import a small quantity via a trade agreement with a trader on the region map. It's explained in the tutorial.

In Lategame you are able to import via harbour in bigger quantities.

Hope this will help. Have fun! :)

Thank you for the great description of the problem.

Does the game crash when you go to the merchant in northern Italy?

Did you try to import from the region marble? There should be 1 marble merchant on every region map.

Please let me know if that helps.

Hi! Crash only happened the first time I tried to go to the world map: After restarting the game and loading the game, it was actually on the world map.

I just started a new "career" mode. I actually didn't saw any obvious tutorial mode (But I did the demo a couple of times), I have gone trough all traders in the map I got: I have food, brick, wood and a single iron trader, but no marble, unless I missed something.

Marble might be late game, but I need it for the scriptoria in the forum! (And I just managed a basic city with about 200 inhabitants before needing to expand my forum)

Just to debug:

Regional map offers:
6 food
2 Wood
1 Brick
1 iron
5 Villas that don't offer anything (They have fields, so I am guessing they are villas rusticas)

1 cives that can't be interacted

Ok, another problem: (UI related) I went into the world map. Game crashed again: Restarted it and I was again thrown into the world map. I managed to travel near Hispania and secure a contract for marble (Even if I am not ready to buy marble using ports yet, need the next level of residents...)

Anyway, issue for tomorrow: I tried navigating the world map to go back to my settlement. I can't find it. Probably covered by fog of war: Is there any button to auto centre on it? I can just keep looking around, but I have been trying to find it for over 30 mins, and no luck :'(

*Ok, sorry for the multiple post: Just follow the arrows: The name of your city won't appear: But you get the "Build colony" column icon. No name of your colony. Just say you want to keep developing and the city will eventually load

Have you used your dude (press V) to search around your city map. I found marble that way.

I did: Went to all rocky looking crops. No luck (I even invested on a bridge just in case rocks where in the other side, even if I couldn't see anything obvious)

Ok, so a bit more exploration: I deffo not have on my local map any marble source. Neither I have on my map: Travelling around the world I found a trader who sells marble.
But port buildings asked for 100 cives to start building. I am at Peregrini level, so I tough it was a no go. However, when I went to my city map,, all port buildings where unlocked.

However, if I right click on a port building, it says "No import shipping building has been build yet". No friggin idea what it means, but all other import trade buildings (water) still require 100 cives. I am really under for scriptori, which means anything I build increases corruption, and have no way of improving that, as I have literally 0 marble an no way of purchasing more, so I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Still trying to reach Insuale with literally 0 marble and no capacity to build temples, etc, so probably it is not possible.

Restarted 3 times, and none of them had any way of getting marble, so I am not sure if I am super unlucky or my computer is somehow cursed.

You have to build the actual administration building, in Market --> Foreign Trade --> Trade Building Water. Without this, water trade cannot work.

Ok, I tough as much. The issue is that with the default Marble, I just about cover the needs of the city up to makinf it to Peregrinii level: I have been literally bugged for hours now to make more scriptori and build a Gallo-Roman temple, and I literally have 0 ways of making it possible, as I have no way of getting marble:

I had 3 marble left, but spent it to check if reaching 0 would give an option to purchase it, even if that was with my personal founds: it doesn't.

So either I restart, or I just hope I can expand my city enough to have 100 cives, get the trade water stuff and have enough room. However, I doubt so: I am 160 Libertii, 160 Peregrini, and had to kick out the local tribe, still no way I have enough room to fit another 130 Peregrini+100 cives+whatever that water trading building takes.... I might need to just keep restarting till I have a map with marble... Or some cheat that makes me be able to purchase it.

Deposits are not random. You will never find a marble deposit on Mission 1. There is supposed to be a marble trader in the regional map. There has been in the past but apparently a bug is responsible for it not being there now.
Montoya Apr 17 @ 5:15pm
Damn, I might just wait for the bug being fixed and restart, because I can see this issue escalating....Thanks for the warning.

Might try other game modes meanwhile.
Learning to manage resources is an important part of the game, bug or not. Overbuilding in the early game will lead to ruin, especially with expensive items like marble and iron (80 and 120 denarii per unit respectively on regional map).

That is very true, but I'll say that not having "not marble" forum options is a big handicap, because there is no way to progress without expanding the forum, even at an early city building phase. Even if I was able to use my personal founds to purchase some emergency marble somewhere would help, but alas, I just don't have any way I can think of getting more marble... For what I read I was supposed to have a source of it, which I don't.
