How to produce wood?

I am a big fan of tutorials and games telling me exactly what to do in the beginning, but this tutorial is very confusing and does not explain mechanics as needed. I cannot build the engineers house because I dont have enough wood.

So i go to click on the lumberjack building, it says gross production 8 per week, but the number of my wood in the top of the screen never increases.

I cannot click anything in the lumberjack menu to change the worker productivity or corruption, whatever that means for this building.

I also tried tearing down some houses and other buildings i built, hoping to recover the materials that i need but apparently when you tear down buildings in this game, you get nothing in return it seems, the materials are just lost forever and you have to build again and obtain the materials. I would really like some guidance here because the game looks beautiful and i am determined to finish the tutorial at least! thanks!

How can i get more wood?

check if the chariot has clear route to the storage, if the production goes on you should be able to see a ox cart moving between the storage and the lumberjack.

To obtain and collect wood, use the following advice:
1) Place 2 Lumberjacks inside the wood area (seen by activating the overlay with "K" key."
2) Place a processing stations on the same road used by the lumberjacks.
3) Place a wood storage next to the processing station.
4) Once all buildings have completed, right click on each one. In the information pane on the right side of the screen, look for a small magnifying glass symbol. Accompanying it should be a small indicator that the building is transporting items somewhere. Click on the magnifying glass and the destination will be highlighted. If there is no indicator showing delivery or no building in range highlights, click on the nearest building that is next in the chain. Lumberjack --> Processor or Processor --> Storage.
