Report a translation problem
This week, many small bugs were fixed. But there were also major adjustments to the balancing in the upper levels and the production of goods. The biggest change was in road construction. In the demo from summer 2024, many people wanted to be able to build roads over other roads. I have included this feature for the next closed beta. I hope the testers like it.
Otherwise, everything is in the final stretch. You can look forward to it, it will start soon.
Cheers, Roger
This week, bandits were introduced on the world map. If you don't have your money deposited in a bank and travel around with it, you may be attacked and your money stolen.
12 personal slaves have also been added to the game. You can buy them and even release them. They travel around with you and give you a bonus depending on their skills.
Some mechanics have also been improved. Road building has become a lot easier. That was a request that many people had during the demo.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the translators. Volunteers have spent hours translating, correcting and improving thousands of words. Thank you for your incredible support.
Cheers, Roger
Rogers, only one word for the release date... It's suffient the indication of the month ... pls
I have a question about the demo. I downloaded the demo and started it, but when I played it the game took me to the desktop. Is the demo fully available? If not, it's a bug on my computer.
I am having the same problem. I start a new game and it crashes to desktop
+1
The release is getting closer. The demo is currently ready to play. You can play the tutorial or build a new free city in 60 minutes. You can't save in the demo. If you have any feedback about the demo, please post it in the Demo2 channel on Discord. Then I can implement your feedback.
I'll be using the coming days and weeks to intensively address the demo feedback and fix bugs. I'll do my best to release a great game.
Cheers, Roger :)
PS: If you notice any errors, please describe them in detail. The more precisely I know what the issue is, the faster I can fix it. Thanks :)
Unfortunately, I was sick for a few days. But I'm almost recovered. At least I was able to work properly on the game today.
The release on April 17th is just around the corner. I keep getting asked what will happen afterward:
After the release, I'll first fix any issues. Then I'll start developing new buildings and more content, which will be added later. I have a gigantic list of ideas for what else could be added. But let's talk about it after the release.
The most important changes currently in the game:
The city walls now protect you. Wild barbarians may also attack. Everything inside the city walls will then be safe. Everything outside will be burned down.
The city walls also have a new texture. It's white plaster with drawn red lines. You can see this in various Roman excavations in the region.
I'm currently testing the cognomen award. This is the third name the game gives you depending on how you play.
In less than three weeks, it's time. Then you'll build the most beautiful and monumental cities in the Empire.
This week, I fixed some minor bugs and tried to improve performance. The game will have more settings so you can turn off things that are performance-hungry.
I've also watched Let's Plays and seen where new players might have problems. Therefore, I've added new help boxes to make the game more understandable.
I hope you're as excited as I am to build the most beautiful cities in the Empire. It starts on April 17th. Cheers, Roger
Make them scalable, not simply on/off.
The Demo runs with <10 fps on my Intel Core Ultra 7, 32gb RAM and Arc B580. That clearly means it have to be optimized a lot. Honestly, releasing this in just ten Days feels like the usual "Big players tactic". Selling not yet finished games.
But even then, you wont find any performance sweet spot with Unity. That Engine was made for cross-platform compatibility, not high performance. If bigger studios didn't manage to get a good performance with their building games like Cities Skyline II, how will you as one-man-team?
