Why is the demo gone?
Hi! I've heard some good things about this game from a friend and wanted to check it out for myself. I heard that there is supposedly a demo for it on Steam, but when I looked for it, it was completely gone.

I may be overthinking this a bit, but I've seen devs remove remove demos from their games before, and they very rarely do it for good reasons. It makes me a bit reluctant to try the game out knowing that the ability to try before you buy was deliberately removed.

All of this was to say, was any specific reason given as to WHY the demo was removed? Thanks!

The demo was disabled with the release of The Pristine Cut.

We're disabling the demo for the time being. This is because the demo isn't localized, and we don't want to confuse our players on the state of translations in the final version of the game. If you'd like to play the demo, you can find it on itch.io.

Demo is still up on itch[blacktabbygames.itch.io], but as another user said, we took it down because it isn't localized. I'm concerned about, for instance, a Chinese player installing the demo, not seeing a translation option, and assuming this is an issue for the full game.

The demo is structured a bit differently, with different content than the full game, too, so I can't easily just carve our the equivalent content in the full release and remake it without a bunch of extra work (and extra localization work.)

Ah, I gotcha! I'll be sure to check it out there then! Thanks!

FWIW, I've seen a number of Next Fest demos removed when Next Fest ends. Pre-release demos are often time-limited because they don't end up accurately representing the final game, and keeping them up-to-date diverts developer work from the game itself.
My mac flagged both versions of the demo as possibly containing malware, do you know if there is any reason and why and maybe some nonessential file in the application I could delete to get it to work/

Recent versions of macOS out of the box simply forbid running any unsigned apps.
