Why a furry?
I get that human hands are hard to drawn, but it should have been pretty obvious that a decent amount of people would be confused by the design choice.

Given the fact that there's a mirror the narrator either can't see or is gaslighting us about, and we can't look at our reflection, I'm going to assume it'll be relevant to the story when the full game comes out.

Because anthro birds are cool, and there's likely symbolism involved with the choice of being a bird anyways. Considering the game isn't fully done we can't say if it's truly symbolic yet.

It's nothing to really complain about. It's not like furries, let alone bird furries, are commonly main characters anyways.

I really think that complaining "Oh, we're a furry," is a rather silly way of considering things immediately. I would say that the fact that the hero is trapped in the story as well, and a kind of bird monster/creature, implies that he, too, is in a cage, just like the princess is. I do find it ironic though that the mirror vanishes, because (if I'm not wrong), birds can't recognize themselves, so I wouldn't be surprised if in one of the main story paths, the mirror results in the hero attacking "the monster," IE, himself, not even realizing it initially, or possibly, at all.

I mean, after all, the choice of the hero being part bird is a narrative choice. We could've been, as you said, literally furry (like the Big Bad Wolf), scaly (draconian, which are often seen to be kidnapping princesses and hoarding them for unknown reasons), or something else I haven't considered, but I also think that those imply a type of agency that doesn't actually exist for the hero the majority of the time.

Come on, clearly it's a narrative choice, as stated above.
There are enough human hands in Scarlet Hollow for you to know the artists have no issues with them. And to be fair, bird-like "hands" like these are harder to draw than regular human hands for a lot of people.

I'm split between the theory that the MC is like a "bird in a cage" too, and the implications of the Beast path, since felines eat birds, and the theory that MC is a feathered dragon actually, which would be very interesting in relation to the whole "princess made prisoner by a dragon" narrative where a hero needs to rescue her - would be an interesting twist to BE a dragon sent to kill her and who - if they so desire - may try to rescue her instead. Especially delightful on the Damsel path I'm on.

Spoilers, We're a Skeksi and the princess is the Dark Crystal. X3

"I get that hands are hard to draw" is the silliest excuse given to explain why you failed to understand the purpose of that design choice.

She sheds.
That's also a skin condition.

I don't think we're necessarily a furry. We seem to be a combination of different creatures that are usually guarding princesses and keeps them locked up. Dragons, goblins, griffins etc. You questioning the narrator is you questioning whether your role as such a creature is defined as being antagonistic towards the princess.

You know the mirror in the demo that dissappears?
I think that in the full game you will be able to see yourself in the mirror and the point is that each route changes what you look like. If you for example make yourself more of a hero, that will reflect how you look.

Edit: I honestly just hope we don't have a beak. It would be weird to romance her if did

To blatantly rip off a famous movie title: Don't Knock it till You've Tried it OR: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Weird. :steammocking:

Well as I said, I also believe that the mirror we find in the demo will not dissappear in the full game, because then we will be able to see ourselves and we will change depending on our actions.

So, if you act more like a monster, you will become more monsterous, if you act like a hero, you will appear more heroic, perhaps losing some of the more mosterous traits, or at least make yourself look more appealing to a woman as fine as the Princess.

The "hero" being subtly monstrous is clever. You're meant to think the Princess is the monster, but in reality, is the monster actually you? If you are both monsters, why is she the one that's a captive if she's not so different after all?

I don't think the hands will or should change. It wouldn't be as in line with the theme of "not everything that appears monstrous is".
