Why is the filesize so big?

A friend of mine bought this on my recommendation after I watched a playthrough of it, but a minor problem has occurred - the game is a whole 8 GB! This takes a good long for my friend to download on his cornfield internet, leaving me wondering how a visual novel ended up taking so much space.

Probably the audio files for the voices. Lots of voiced lines and lots of little variations between the lines depending on choices you make.

One half is hours of lossless audio and the other half is lots of lossless images.
Try to save something in WAV/PNG and see how quickly it stacks.
