Which ending did you get first?

I'm kind of curious how much of a spread there is on this, since it effectively translates to "which decisions did you make first?" So chime in with which route you experienced first.

For me, my route was: Willingly let the damsel stab you -> flee cabin (earning a reset without an actual ending) -> Willingly let the more hostile princess stab you -> Shackles version of the Prisoner ending.

I honestly consider myself lucky to have stumbled on this route first because it made a great first experience. It let me get the mind-screw of "wait that's not the same chapter 1 princess" asap, and the shackles ending is one of the few where the void/Mound appearing doesn't feel out of left field.

I got the Fury (I think this is how she was called). I took the knife and attacked her, in the second chapter she looked like a demon and in the third she had a heart pulsating outside of her chest...I didn't like it too much though... My second try was much better: I had the Skeptic and the Cold team up. Probably my favorite voices in the entire game.

I got the Spectre lol.

I got the adversary and the fury in my first run, and when I saw the fury I ended up crying irl since I felt horrible for what I turned her into. After meeting the shifting mound I just wanted to do everything better and got the damsel. Won't lie I was creeped out by her chewing her arm off but I dunno I just felt frustrated when the shifting mound happened. 3rd time around I stabbed the princess and got the Spectre, and I felt bad again so I let her possess me and went outside. After getting glooped up by the mound I got frustrated and tried to leave, and got the stranger. Then I felt super super bad for her. When I got told the next time would be my last by the mound I was like I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO DO THIS RIGHT because you know, I genuinely had started to care for the princess at this point.

So I tried freeing her and ended up being unable to stop myself from killing her and she turned into the witch I actually liked the witch and felt bad so I gave her the knife. Ended up getting The Thorn.

I was bawling my eyes out at this stage tbh and ended up smooching her. We got out. Then I met the narrator and.... well I ended up feeling super bad for him. Not gonna lie I have a soft spot for corvids, I feed my local hooded crows and magpies (and jackdaws etc). I didn't have the heart to be mean he just seemed kind of pathetic and kind of sad. I wish I could have saved him somehow.

Then the Princess and I awoke as lovers and gods and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off into the trippy fractal at the end of rainbow spacetime. The end.

Actual masterpiece of a game. not sure right now if I have the stomach to do another run and get different endings lol. I actually loved my run so much.

I think it was Tower -> Fury.

I wasn't entirely sure who to trust. She was absolutely being manipulative, and I noticed, but I didn't want to be hasty. So I opted to ask a lot of questions, then to go upstairs and give it more time before I decided.

Then the mask slipped as I was leaving, and I am like "oh, well that decides for me." So I made a decision right then and there instead of waiting.

Then tower, mask slipped more. So I stubbornly stuck to that decision.

Then fury, and I stubbornly stuck to that decision again.

Then I found a mirror.

The first vessel I got was Razor -> Sharp. I thought i had The Stranger first, but it was just meeting Her for the first time after I decided to not go to the Tower after my first death.

Wraith. I was kinda annoyed i couldn't kill her, but also decided there's no reason resisting at this point, so i just decided to let her possess me and get out. Far from my proudest ending.

That's not an ending. That's just a single route in a 5-route game. You gotta do 4 more in a row to get an actual ending. Also do NOT press "New Game", you must continue from your save.

Yes it is an ending in the exact way the thread is asking for. Just because something isn't the FINAL ending doesn't mean it isn't an ending to that branching path.

I don't think the thread was actually asking for that kind. Getting one of the princesses is just a part of the journey, not the END of it.

Then I think OP actually misunderstood what an ending is. Again, that is NOT an ending. That is just one fifth of the journey. People keep on making the mistake of not seeing it to the end and they just assume the timeloop reset means all progress is reset, bit that is not true. You must collect 5 vessels in a row and then you get to talk to the Narrator in the mirror. After that, you see the FINAL FORM of the Shifting Mound and then you get to discuss what to do from there in order to get your actual ending.

What you're saying makes about as much sense as it would be for someone ask people to talk about the ending of an episode of a show just for someone like you to say, "how dare you say that was the ending. Only the finale 3 seasons later is an ending. You're only like 1/45 done with the series. You're not at the ending." when that's not how language works.

You realize that ending can mean a large variety of things? That a final ending isn't the only ending? The first chapter ENDS which starts the second chapter. Would you get angry about someone talking about the ending to the first chapter because there's more chapters after it?

The word "ending" just means that something/ANYTHING has concluded. They are using it to mean the conclusion of the first route that was taken. Not the conclusion of the game. I really don't understand how this is confusing you so much. I thought most people were clear on the fact that ending doesn't only mean a final ending.

Also I've never heard of anyone not finishing the game just because they did their first route, and that's after watching multiple people lets play this game. The shifting mound makes it clear she needs more vessels which makes it obvious to keep playing the game and give her more vessels.
