Full game same as the demo?
Played through it and all the princess scenes end at about the same time as they did in the demo except instead of advertising the full game she just gets dragged away by hands lmao, did you give up on making the game after the demo or was it planned to be this totally epic undertale not underwhelming at all eldritch ending since the start.

Not to spoil anything, but keep going, the hands have a purpose, the game is small in scope but it's all by design.

yes i beat the game, all by design means nothing when the design is bunk, "life fighting against death" is a boring old concept and the game would have been better if the dev actually made the game from the demo instead of making baby's first conceptualization meta plotline.

Did you really beat the game? When you beat the game credits start playing. It's definitely A LOT more content than the demo!

yes i beat the game, each route has maybe one more scene before finishing prematurely then after 5 routes you go to the crappy "the princess is actually death" narrative that Braid did in 2008

i enjoyed the game a lot but snarky tone aside i don't think OP's take is an invalid one.

i definitely wouldnt call it intentional deception but the nature of the demo and store page could definitely lead someone to draw a false conclusion about how the game's structured

Yeah, it's definitely personal opinion whether you liked the game and how it's structured or not, but I think it's unfair to say the devs gave up on the game. It's clear they put a lot of work into this game. I can't even imagine how they managed to make all this in less than two years! There's only two people working on this game and just one made the hand-drawn art by herself. And there's so much more to explore than just one playthrough!

Op doesnt seems to like Games at all, seeing 96% of his 120 Reviews are negative.

that's what a demo is for??? to show you what the game is like. the demo was amazing, i've played it before and after the big update. even if you think the full game is just more of the same (debatable) it's still really good
BubbleMuffins Oct 23, 2023 @ 7:27pm
I dunno, after following up on Caduryn's post and actually checking their surprising collection of negative reviews, I can only come to the conclusion that Cookie is a bitter person who hates games, or at the very least, is incredibly petty to the point of giving negative reviews over the most banal of things. I wouldn't give their opinion much thought, honestly. Their appraisal of the full game over the demo is on brand though, so if nothing else, I applaud their consistency.

The Fury and the Den are the exact same as the demo lmao, the routes need proper endings not crappy hands flying in out of nowhere when the dev has to actually think of how to progress the route.

A lot of you sound like people who just make excuses for things that have not been executed properly. We have people like you to thank for the mass ip ruin that has happened the last decade. Just shovel anything in their mouths and they are satisfied!

Bold claims to make based on a thread of single-sentence statements. I do actually agree that the game is flawed. All things are. I do actually agree with Cookie, in the vague sense that I would have enjoyed seeing more of each route played out. Much of modern IPs, particularly large productions, are made with no soul, and deserve much criticism. I agree that the consumer mindset is tearing down the integrity of a lot of art. And I'd even go so far as to say Slay the Princess is overpriced for what it is offering.

But all of that is ignoring what Slay the Princess is. Its a small, artistic indie game made by two people. Its drawn wonderfully, musically scored beautifully, and constructed deftly. Just because its not what some people wanted out of it doesn't make it bad. It just makes it not to your taste. If you are going to criticize a work, one needs be a tad more thorough then "I didn't like thing, route short, it bad".
