Afterthoughts
I actually find myself wishing for some kind of... "ever-after" fanfiction after finishing the game. Well, good quality fanfiction, to be precise, with writing comparable to that in the game.

"And? What Happens Next?" was a very fitting achievement title - feels like I need five AO3 shorts' worth of closure by the end of next week before my chest implodes.

That's why I said "good quality", I'm reader, not writer)

I can't imagine where someone could possibly go with it tbh. you can make pointless fluff about them doing normal human stuff but that's pretty much it right?

Weeell, to be honest, I don't think they can be _normal_ humans whatever they wish. Being Elder Gods for untold eons kind of... must leave some traces of it, at the very least. So, I think their future lives will be anything but dull. But that's just my thoughts on that.

i mean yeah 80% of fanfic is "the serial killer and the cowboy are now coworkers at a coffee shop and violate health codes in the bean closet"

I guess that's fair... there's like, not even really a hook to go off of though. what if they step out of the cabin and it's just the modern world? what if they step out of the cabin and it's literally just nature because the cabin was the only thing that existed?
I guess it leaves like. all the room in the world when it comes to creative freedom. but that also means people have to wildly improvise with a single through-line technically making it the same story. it's not like there's a lot of character development. sticking them in a completely different situation would basically make them completely different characters.
sorry I didn't intend to take this so seriously but thoughts kept pouring out lol

idk why I expected otherwise 😔 forgor that people don't care about having a story in their stories (/nbh? idk haha tone tags fun)
They stepped out of the cabin and are now in the same world as Kratos from the God of War series where they're just trying to live together peacefully but other gods keep screwing with them so they have to keep being gods but hate it.

Personally, that's why I said "short." A whole 100+ chapter ramble about a brand new world which has nothing to do with the story would indeed become a big fluffy nothingburger after a while...
But a few pages of what it finally feels like to be free of the loop, with the woman you've killed (and who's killed you) more times than you can remember until you know her like the back of your talons? Methinks the fanbase could use a few of those right now.

Something like that, at the very least, yes)
I do realise, that the story, as it is, is finished. Doesn't mean I don't want more of it. )

Personally the only fanfic I would be interested in for this game would be a series of single-chapter epilogues about each individual princess being unleashed on the world after you lead them outside (with the obvious caveat that you're pretending they actually find a world instead of a void and aren't instantly swallowed by the Mound). Obviously some would be pretty apocalyptic, but most wouldn't.

Honestly I think I'm going to start writing that before the week is over because I have not been able to get it out of my head since suggesting it.

NaNoWriMo, or, National Novel Writing Month, is an event that hasn't crossed my mind in a long, long time. After checking it out again... oh look, its set in November. And its past midnight here, officially November 1st. And while this /technically/ isn't writing a novel, its close enough for me. Satellite, Brickey, I'm holding you to this. Ya'll have filled me with motivation I've not felt in years. I'm gonna dust off these old fanfiction fingers and write a few short stories. I hope to see you again within the month. :D
