This is not "inspired" by Moebius...
This is a carbon copy of his art style and designs. If this game were being marketed as a literal homage to Moebius then it would be ok but it's not. Nowhere is his name mentioned. Many of the people complimenting the art direction have no clue who he is and considering 80% of this game's appeal is its visuals... I find it dishonest to not credit him in a very obvious way (not fine print somewhere that nobody is going to see).

Sable was inspired by Moebius. Synergy is arguably plagiarizing him... But hey! So long as nobody complains, it must be fine. What do I know?

Totally, this post is gatekeeping at it's finest.

Hello!

I don't really want to go to much into details, but I think this is something to address!
While I do not agree that the game is "plagiarism" I think I understand what you mean. So of course I could tell you, as I read that "No one possess an entire art-style", which is true, but we also had a different approach, thinking that it'd be even more inappropriate to use Moebius' name to market the game on each possible occasion. This would even "trick" people into buying the game just because they love Moebius art style, whatever the game is behind, which is not what we want to. Synergy is not meant to be "just" a Moebius reference, there's a whole game in there :D

Yes, the art style is definitely inspired by Moebius, a style we love, and as French ourselves, we're pretty proud to make his style known to the people that might not know it, and to give him this kind of tribute. A lot of people understand the reference, whenever we're talking about the game we say his name, and even here people can read his name!
But we feel that creditting Moebius in the game itself would both mean he owns the art style, and would also minimize the excellent work our artists did on the game!

First glance and all i saw was art-style clone of Sabre.

Of course characters looks different, but the style and environment looks so like Sabre i thought maybe it was same devs.

I am french and I understand what you want to say, just a "thank you Moebius for your imagination" somewhere in the game could be ok because I think too they have a huge inspiration of his art style ! ^^

Considering the amount of games on steam that use Moebius art style without showing a big sign stating: "THIS WAS HEAVILY INSPIRED BY MOEBIUS ART" I think you re going a little bit overboard with the art hijack accusations.

It's a beautiful looking game and art is art. Moebius would be proud.

Speaking of this, Ridley Scott did not thank Möbius for his inspiration while making Blade Runner, right?

And no one is complaining about this. Many people take for granted that the city landscape in Blade Runner is a Ridley Scott’s thing…

While I am French too, and proud of Möbius’ heritage, I don’t think mentioning him as a source of inspiration is really making a difference anywhere.

As sTankWhiStLe said, Möbius would be proud of your (devs’) work.

Thanks for your game.
