Share your Cribbage Solitaire scores!
I only ever played Zachtronics puzzle games, so this game is new to me, and it's a lot of fun seeing as cribbage is one of my favorite traditional card games. I just managed to get 102 points on deal 8, which is top of the histogram. So I'm curious what y'all's best scores are.

I have found it very difficult... haven't won a game yet. I have won at least once in everything else except Cribbage and Fortunes Foundation.

On thing took a while for me to fully notice:
the 'run' of cards does not require any order, as like a 'street' in other card games.

So a run of 4-6-5-7 will give you +3 and +4 points for a total of +7. Order does not matter.

Also a total game winner is having a set of 4 cards which is only possible with A to 7. Gives a plathora of points.

So what I do:
- go for runs with 3-4 cards first
- look out for sets with 3 or 4 cards
- start with a Jack if feasible
- start with a 15-point combo if feasible, i.e. 7+8, then add 5/6 or 9 for a run
- if in doubt go for a 2-card set
- try for 31 points last

The juice is really in the runs and sets.

This is all good advice. Another neat trick is that you can do a run from both ends. For example, A-2-3-A is actually two 3 card runs, for a total of 6 points. This gets crazier with larger runs. Hypothetically, you could play A-2-3-4-5-A-2-3-4-5-A for a total of 3+4+5x7+2+2 = 46 (3 card run, 4 card run, 7 5 card runs, fifteen, and 31).

You won't get something that good, but it goes to show how strong low cards are. For this reason, I generally try to play my face cards by themselves, ideally a 3 of a kind or a 3-card run, since that's usually the best you can do with them.

Another good play is 4-5-6 for fifteen + 3-card run, then extend the run as best you can.

4 of a kind is also super strong, but if you do it with low cards you may hurt your chances for crazy runs.

Those are enlightening comments, as I have no idea what is going on in this game, there are scores out of left field, are the rules and scoring details available anywhere? Thanks.

You need to flip the note pad on the lower right end where it says "Rules ->" :-)

i looked on 3 different screens but there is no notepad icon in the lower right on my screen! (However, I did win my first game; a very entertaining variation.

It should be in the lower left. The same notepad that shows the scoring histogram. And scoring rules are pretty much ripped straight from cribbage, a classic card game (typically for two players) which has rules online.

First, sorry for the off-topic question, but I've got it now. Once you select a game, there is on the Left, a yellow note pad, and in the lower right corner of the note pad is an arrow and "RULES"! It would have taken me forever to find that! Thank you so much! :steamhappy:

Thanks for the tips.

Could you elaborate what you mean by "Also a total game winner is having a set of 4 cards which is only possible with A to 7."
I don't think I understand what you are referring to because there are 4 of every card, not just A through 7.

7x4 = 28, 8x4 = 32 > 31. So you can only get a four of a kind on cards A-7. 8-K can only get 3 of a kind at best. (Still good, just not as crazy)
