Don't understand the point of the Grandpa

Spoilers for the game. I don't understand what the point of the Grandpa we're growing is. Like, if we don't make the contract then Whiskers enters our body and if we do make the contract then Whiskers/Grandpa makes new parents for us. But why were we growing a Grandpa in the first place?

I initially thought the point was we would grow a Grandpa and did it properly, then he would separate from Whiskers and live with us. But even if the deal goes through, Whiskers dumps the Grandpa part of itself and leaves. Did the Grandpa only exist to mediate the contract between Adrianne and Whiskers? Was there some other reason why he was grown?

So, Whiskers isn't literally growing your Grandpa. Rather, it is a predator that uses mimicry and mind reading to turn into the being its prey wants it to be. Your grandpa is essentially Whiskers manipulating you into taking care of it until its grown large enough to fend for itself and eventually reproduce, rather than your literal Grandpa.

Maybe Whiskers is an angelic or demonic being, maybe its an alien, maybe its just a strangely evolved organism, maybe an eldritch abomination, or maybe its all or none of these. Ultimately though, the 'Grandpa' growing inside whiskers existed pretty much just to manipulate an emotionally vulnerable small child into furthering its own ends, not unlike it did to that one mother who had lost their child, as it mentioned when asked about wishes.
