Maybe Whiskers is an angelic or demonic being, maybe its an alien, maybe its just a strangely evolved organism, maybe an eldritch abomination, or maybe its all or none of these. Ultimately though, the 'Grandpa' growing inside whiskers existed pretty much just to manipulate an emotionally vulnerable small child into furthering its own ends, not unlike it did to that one mother who had lost their child, as it mentioned when asked about wishes.
