Stuck on Cave of Batt puzzle

I'm sure there must be some clue i'm missing, but i have no idea how to solve the rotating puzzle in the cave after you purify batt's temple. Help? I really don't want to spend a bunch of time brute-forcing it.

There is a hint in there saying to use a bird's view at the place of trial, but I have no idea what the place of trial is.

What is the most comprehensive bird's eye view in the game? Also, what stumped me with where to look is that this is the only time in the game this is referred to as 'trials' - think of where the biggest challenges are.

Answer:
The bird's eye view is your map, you can use it to look at the sigil temples and count how many Batt statues are at each one.

@OP at the end of Batt's Temple, read the plaque text between the two waterfalls. The correct answer was highlighted in yellow.
