Three wise monkey puzzle - how?

I'm playing the Demo right now and in the puzzle with the three wise monkey I have to move 3 rocks to its place in an order. What is the clue for this one? I found by mistake but I would like to know the reason behind it.

It's related to the number of body parts that monkeys are touching with their hands.
