WW2 2016 Bot AI is as good as human players, it was the games saving grace, even in objective maps , they are very good and customisable.
You can get as much of a buzz playing them as other people.
Fully agree ! The AI in WW2 was top notch, especially for the WAR game mode. Awesome game and mode, even without human players.
But is it possible to unlock weapons etc against bots or is it only for PvP?
Only in PvP sadly.
Is there any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CoD game where I can spend a reasonable amount of money for a game that will have players next year instead of scrambling for the next $70 copypaste with better graphics? I'm looking for a CoD game where I can mod my guns and shoot people like in the old MW2. You just run around in a moderate-sized map and then you shoot people, that's it, it's Battlefield without the vehicles and spawnpoints and ♥♥♥♥.
I don't want to pay a billion dollars every year for an enormously fat game that will barely run while steaming up my computer only to ram that multiplayer button and discover everybody already is onto the next one. I know! Let's release a CoD game every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ second, so that you'll definitely never get to play! Oh, and let's make it simulate the webbing of your toes, just so that your computer will lag extra hard for no reason, don't you love hearing your undervolted RTX3060 12GB / Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9GHz 12core / 1x32GB DDR4 CL22 / 6 fans computer waste its lifetime at lowest settings at less than 60fps and less than 1920x1080? Don't you just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love that? Come on guys let's pla- OPE, CAN'T, BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL ON A DIFFERENT GAME ALREADY.
I want to mod cursed guns and shoot ppl with them. I don't want to spend a trillion dollars for a fat game that will ignite my computer for no reason. I don't want to spend 20 hours installing, running DRM checks, charging through yet another separate launcher that installs kernel-level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ while it sends pictures of my balls to China, only to wait 20 full minutes for a match to load, only for all the thick foreheaded players to run the smallest, most broken map (Looking at you, whatever that container map is) repeatedly with no end. Oh, and also? Make matches longer, you ♥♥♥♥. What the hell is that. So much loading and waiting just to get to make like 5 kills and then the match is over? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ let me play already. How ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard is it to know that there's a massive demographic that wants exactly this game and will continue to play that game for decades if it was done right. You know how much money you'll make CONSISTENTLY if you do this RIGHT, without weird ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ microtransactions that will speed up XP rates or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? Add the whole paid-for ranked bs that some people like, let the rest just finally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play some CoD.
Rant over.
I re-read this rant 5 hours later, and man, this sounds harsh. But Imma leave it, it seems validating for someone else going through this sh*t. It would be so nice if we could just have a functional CoD game that people can rely on. You come home, you wanna play a shooter for a bit, get that right-click zoom action with that gun you like. That movement that feels good, the grenade tactics, just turn your mind off a little bit and zone out into the trajectory calculations, keeping your hands busy. It's just a game. That moment when you just f*cking can't find that game you like, when you know it's so close, and that it should be so simple. That sucks ass. That moment you know so many people have been looking for this same thing, and it's still happening. Infuriating.
Anyhow, yeah.
Venting about CoD. I really like making cursed guns. I would buy Tarkov but all the inventory management and in-game cash and all that sh*t, it's so involved compared to CoD, where you just unlock stuff and that's it. I don't want another DayZ where it's a five hour walk to the next thing I wanna enjoy, that's not what I want when I play CoD. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking like, I could enjoy Nuketown, but not this container map. I haven't played CoD:V in a while and I forgot the name of it, but it's this tiny, square map where you spawn in a literal sightline of the enemy player spawn. That one sucks. I want to have a bit of moving around, preparation. I did play Hell Let Loose, but that can be a drag sometimes.
Anyway, installing 55GB just to have another zoned-out experience where I wait 20 minutes for a laggy-connection single game that lasts a minute before it gets voted to containertown.
Ik some people are gonna say sh*t like "main character who do you think you are do you think you're smart or some ♥♥♥♥" but nah it's just like, I'm writing. It's a forum, you just discuss. You engage with whoever you want to, that's like, the forum thing, man. And if some people wanna write full on essays about "swirling the wine that is CoD" then I'm fine with that. Everybody's got their thing, ykwim?
I could hit cancel on this, but somebody might enjoy it. I enjoy other ppl's posts. Felt great the first time I read somebody had the same aggravation with something like that. Not sure why, but so many Steam discussions are filled with simple, instant flicks to the eye of the reader. So much personal insulting goes on.
Also, weed.
SteamDB says that there are between 80-160 players on any given day, all across the world. Some of those are people who just have the game in main menu. Some of those are in America, whereas the others are in Asia, Africa, Europe, etc. Suppose those were always equally divided, then you'd get like maybe 10-20 players per area. Waiting for a match would take a while.
It would shunt all the players to a farther away server in order to still gather a full match of players. But, there is a limit. Either the ping difference between players will become massive, or the game just doesn't connect the players.
I don't remember whether CoD:V would put you in an active game, but if not, then you'd have to wait for that game to end, as the players who didn't make it in would always need to wait for a separate server with enough players queued.
If CoD:V puts you in an active game just fine, then that's not a problem. Then, you can just play CoD:V with all the players in the world at any given time, and there will always be a match for you to join.
So, I'm not sure what explains the long waiting times. Either CoD:V does not put you in an active game, or something is going wrong with matchmaking system code, there shouldn't be such large gaps, such waiting times. I can't make heads nor tails of why this waiting time exists.
As long as there is always a match for you to join, and there are always more players active than is needed for one match, then the game is not dead.
It will be laggier the less players there are in your area, but if matchmaking is handled correctly, the game won't give you such a long waiting time.
