Fatal Error
cold war is the only game in existence that consistently crashes. i built my PC 3 years ago and my specs are more than capable to run cold war in 4k60. I cannot complete outbreaks EE because it takes a while to do and the crash can happen anywhere from 5 minutes in to 2 hours in. there is no possible correlation i can make to why it crashes. error code implies my GPU drivers out of date, suck my balls treyarch. maybe if they optimized their games for PC let alone AMD hardware, since it appears to be a mainly AMD issue. rant is over, if youve fixed this issue in the past let me know

What's the error code?

I have the same problem, CoD shuts down without warning. Drivers are up to date and CPU/GPU usage and temperature are within the normal range. I don't get an error message, CoD just shuts down whether it's in the middle of a round or in the menu, I just end up on the desktop.

Haven't been able to figure out what the cause is yet.

Intel Core i9-9900K 8x3.6GHz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X
32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz

- using vsync to limit frames (made no difference)
- turning off ray tracing (made no difference, my GPU memory utilization is well below the threshold at this point)
- verifying integrity of game files (made no difference)
- I turned off the Nvidia game overlay (made no difference)
- started the game with DX11 (made no difference)
- Moved the game from HDD to SSD (made no difference)

- I removed the graphics card driver using DDU and reinstalled it (now CoD crashes at the beginning of the round instead of after 5 minutes.)
- I tried older graphics card drivers (made no difference)

None of the solutions recommended on the Internet could help with the error message described in gpu crash.txt

What's your motherboard?
Stryker Jun 7, 2024 @ 5:29am
It's the Gigabyte Z390 UD and BIOS is also up to date

downgrading will not help, is the game stuttering when you play it?
Stryker Jun 7, 2024 @ 5:34am
It runs perfectly until it crashes out of nowhere.
manoplashendrix Jun 7, 2024 @ 5:35am
the same thing happens to me. try everything, even remove ray tracing and limit fps. The game works for me, but when I try to play for more than 1 hour it throws error 887A0005 (update your graphics card drivers) I have everything up to date. It's the only game that gives me that type of error.

Does this apply when you play other games or it's just cold war?
Stryker Jun 7, 2024 @ 5:36am
All other games are running fine.

I see, do you have resizable bar enabled? you can check by right clicking on windows desktop->Nvidia control panel->System information(bottom left), and check if resizable bar is enabled

How do you run the game in DX11? I haven't tried that. According to Battlenet that fixes the game.
