Wtf is this update?

I try to find information on things like patchnotes and anything that even references an update for 02/02/2024, and there's nothing. There's no update, there is no patchnotes, Activision/Treyarch/Steam doesn't know of any updates themselves.

Since im having to sit here waiting on the download, Steam downloads real slow for me, I can't find anything at all on google that suggests there even is an update or what the update is even for.

Fix for the Matchmaking problem
If you can't find any players in matches, that's because they updated the game only for Steam, which broke it. Someone in the Steam's threads found a solution though:

"Finally I have solved the issue: downgrade the game. Using info found on the steamdb webpage we can execute a command on the steam console to perform an specific download.

The command is: ``download_depot 1985810 1985811 5380296931597271327``, in order to execute this command we need access first to the steam console and in order to do that we need to press Win + R and type ``steam://open/console``, once we do that a new tab is going to be open on the steam top bar. When the first command i have shown is executed steam is going to perform an silent download, there is no progress bar or anything, it is not going to be quick, its like a 40GB download.

Once its completed a folder is going to be created on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1985810, all the content of this folder is going to be pasted on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War (replacing the content that already exists, do not delete anything, just paste and replace).

After that go to the library, right click on the game and under updates select "Only update this game when I launch it", then just launch the game as normal and you should be able to play right away.

I did it twice and it didn't work, I followed all the instructions to the letter, I even restarted my PC, it didn't work.

Ha! I think I understood, the file takes a very long time to load, that's why I think! I didn't take the time to download it completely.

Now the Downloading and pasting of the depot files doesnt help anymore. Now Steam devs/moderators found out about the method and patched it within steam. Now it wont let me start the game in any way since it wants to force the "update" that doesnt actually do anything good besides break the matchmaking.

well like a day ago they dropped a second update that fixed things lol
