Would not fit.
Napoleon time span was to short to build so many buildings.
Was only about 25 years.........

But when you extend it to from 17th century to napoleonic period it may fit.
It would need a time span of about 150 to 200 years.

Napoleonic era would be a bit boring diplomacy wise if historical. It was basically everyone against France, the Seven Years war period is more interesting with the colonial powers battling it out in Europe and North America. As Arakus says you need at least 150 years so you could have progression of societies and buildings.

Not necessarily. your diplomacy can be setup so it's more interacting with governors/local support, negotiating deals for supplies and troops, preventing nations from entering war.

you can have plenty of society and building progressing if it was more supply/logistics/weapons based stuff. You could essentially do 1 long campaign scenario or a bunch of stand alone smaller scenarios be it revolution wars. the seven year wars, napleon, american civil war....

You could do things with say loyalty being a resource that accumulated over time unlocks higher tier buildings and event options.

Well of course there would be changes. Turns would be more like two weeks (just sayin) than two per year. Diplomacy might be geared more toward your own cabinet rather than with/for/against other nations. Yeh I wasnt suggesting a carbon copy, but using this engine as a foundation and making the necessary time/scale changes required. I dont think you could do justice with just a user made mod.

As for ACW, this WOULD be a challenge as basically only two sides. One would have to think out of the box on this one but would it be impossible? I dunno....maybe instead of ruling a nation you were commander of a brigade, after a required number of successes you get promoted to Divisional commander, then Corps. Rather than commanding provinces, you might command a higher command. But I think that would require a whole different game engine than this one.

There was a hell of of lot of Diplomatic maneuvering during the Napoleonic Wars. Ever hear of Talleyrand or Metternich? Those names are famous, or maybe i should say infamous in Diplomatic history.

One of the reasons Napoleon was able to win a lot of his early wars, was because of Diplomacy. He managed to fight just one or 2 opponents at a time, instead of the whole of Europe. Heck even as late as the 1814 campaign there was a lot of Diplomatic maneuvering by Metternich and Talleyrand to broker a peace that would allow Napoleon to stay in power. They only failed because Napoleon refused to accept that France would be reduced to her natural frontiers. He still thought he could win on the battfield.

Throughout the entire Napoleonic period there was a constant Diplomatic maneuvering between the major powers. As much as the other powers feared France, they also feared Russia and distrusted each other.

Diplomacy is one of the most interesting aspects of the Napoleonic period.
