Seljuk Turks Overrun with Minor Fiefdoms?
Question for those who have played the Seljuks; how the hell do you do it when your money and manpower go through the floor as all but one of your regions has a minor fiefdom in it ... and the only way to get rid of them is the random card 'remove civlized'. Any advice appreciated or is it a bug?

Cheers,

AKL

Tbh I think the Seljuks need a boost. Maybe something similar to how the Persians work in empires.

Because it’s impossible with how the game works to recreate their conquests in the same time frame they did.

Maybe some special rule whereby they can annex large amounts of territory at once, which could also clear certain buildings when it happens or something 🤷‍♀️

I think its one of those customisations for gameplay - being Byzantium is hard enough...

I have been playing the Seljuqs and it's going OK - put up likely on Remove Civilized and absorb vassal. A little bit of cash sweet talking vassals then having them fall into your lap is one of the quickest ways to boost income and power.

Have defeated the Buyids, taken a few lumps off Byzantium and am currently subduing the Abassids so they can acknowledge my political superiority.

I think you need to pillage and raid liberally and switch focus from levies to standing army units until retinue limit.

I haven't played the Seljuks yet, bu the AI Seljuks always seem to struggle and never really manage to conquer the Buyids, let alone affect the Romans.
yh i wonder if maybe the ai there could have a script like the Normans, though I still havent seen a norman invasion of England yet.

I still do not understand the rational for adding a minor fiefdom to every starting region bar one. May look up how to mod this .....

Same here. This might be a balance issue that devs might want to take a look at.

In all of my games Byzantine is always the top legacy.

HRE always crumbles.

Seljuks barely conquer.

Mongols can barely beat the Rus, they never reached Hungary in any of my games.

The Seljuks have been boosted repeatedly in various beta versions. The latest addition is that their mere presence adjacent to the Byzantine Empire can trigger unrest. As for the rest, yes, what you describe can happen fairly often: the HRE breaking down and the Byzantine Empire leading. However, we have run dozens, if not hundreds, of games with testers, and our sample size is much larger than your own experience. So please believe me when I tell you that outcomes can vary significantly from player to player. We have seen the HRE conquering Europe, the Byzantine Empire consistently fracturing, and the Mongols reaching Poland (admittedly, they often stop just before that, but even that is quite an achievement for the AI).

So everything must be taken with a grain of salt, the game offers many variations from a run to another...

An update on my Seljuq campaign, having cleaned house around me and absorbed vassals, Buyids and Abassids, have launched a full on assault on the Byzantines. The snowball comes from Instill revolt and absorb minor - as you crash into the lightly defended outer borders of the Byzantines, you can then trigger several revolts and absorb the minors that emerge.

I have the benefit of experience of playing through the first campaign, but would say the Seljuqs snowball much more easily than England did.

Well and good if you happen to get a heap of 'remove civilised', but 20 turns in and I haven't seen one; and have -30 odd manpower and a disappearing army ....

For Pocus and the developers - still not sure why you have put a minor fiefdom in every starting Seljuk region bar one??? On a different note, I really wish you guys had fixed Wars of Napoleon, it had such awesome promise.

Did you amend likelihood of the RGD? You can also swap out levies for Standing army units for a better bang for your buck on manpower as you are well below your standing army limit.
Absorbing vassals helps as that puts your manpower income up, as well as building/prioritising manpower buildings (peasants roundup is a no brainer).

Check 1.02 Beta; prioritized RGDs now have much higher chances to be given. Wars of Napoleon was based on the older engine, so it could not be patched further.
