Really? A tale of Castillian Woe

Well, I really think that Diplomacy needs to be tweaked in some circumstances and perhaps Authority when making claims. To put this into perspective I was playing my third (?) attempt at Castille; difficulty level experienced. I thought i'd take some time to build up but about turn five Toledo declared war on me. We fought for about ten turns and I took all their regions except the capital which would take a really long siege. So I took a peace offer that gave me just one of their regions and some cash. On the turn of peace the Almovids declared Jihad (a bit early really ...?) and every Muslim nation in Spain piled on, plus over the next five years or so every Muslim Nation as far as the Seljuk Turks and all their vassals. Every one made a claim on Toledo which meant my authority went through the floor with at one point 18 claims on me, including Gascony and Toulouse, my own vassals, Navarra, and Austuria (oh and Galicia and Leon went to war as well ...) Over the next 20-25 years I persevered and had finally conquered about 65% of Spain; Great job against all odds and you'd think the Christian world would be delighted .... Navarra declared war on me. So, I turned North and by the time I'd got there they had cleaned up a couple of my regions; I counterattacked took back my land and grabbed two of theirs whilst fighting and then I was excommunicated before we could talk about peace, and -99 relations with everyone. Leon left me and the Almovids landed in the North in Leon whilst Gascony and Toulouse declared war as well. Really .... has anyone else had this delightful experience? I think I may try again, though the backstab by Navarra (which had conquered a few regions on the west coast themselves) and then being excommunicated was somewhat outrageous and may bear looking into, as well as the claims and Authority issue. Sorry for long story.

There is an issue where being the target of a Jihad as a Christian damages your relations with all Christian nations. It is fixed so it causes relations to improve instead in the public beta build.
