The Normans will be given a decision, and an allocation of forces,
that allows them to either plan to invade England or to attack
France. Not only will this influence who they attack (especially
if controlled by the AI) it will determine if they are treated as
246
a French or English faction for some purposes as the game
progresses.
When setting up a game the player(s) have the option to disable
this event chain (4.3.1)."
that allows them to either plan to invade England or to attack
France. ...." France it was then I guess.
I got nothing playing Normans. Is this AI only? If so, it should be explicit in the manual.
Seems it fires for ai, based on the other comment, but the manual does make it sound like it is an event for the player as well?
Bit annoying as it does mean if Edward the confessor is still not dead you can't manually declare war (without cancelling the marriage) meaning by 1066 you wont progress to the next government form without a larger realm, which has to be sought in France and therefore invading England is largely pointless at that stage.
In my next game going to try to brute-force the invasion at turn start because despite similar combat power the english army(ies) starts pitifully small while the normans come with an actual stack.
I hope Pocus & friends will react and have a look.
Has anyone actually play tested/managed to invade as Normandy? Seems to me with all England’s vassals you’d be better invading in the 1050’s. Since there’s no benefit to waiting for Edward for die.
