How to make a vassal?
Is it possible to make a vassal from conquered territory? The game seems to want you to have vassals past a certain size, but the only way I can find is via a peace treaty

If you have severely beaten a nation (and I mean really severely), then yes, you can ask in the peace negotiations that they become a vassal. (By the way, be sure to understand that any conquered territory will be relinquished to them if you don't ask for it during the negotiations.)

If you are outside of peace negotiations, and you have a character appointed as Peer of the Realm (i.e., governor) of a group of regions (also named Province or Domain), then you can play a decision called Form Vassal, and your character will become an independent ruler (with positive relationships with you).

Your current decision list can be accessed with R. There are many, and sometimes you'll have to wait several turns to get the ones you want.

and with an independant region , we can just conquert them, not vassalize them ? :)

By the way, it's a great game, congragulations.:steamhappy:

Actually that decision card is not working. There's a clause related something about nation, but I truly believed any medieval lord could make a gift to any of his knights in form of land absolutely disregarding thoughts of those who lived there.

The decision to make a vassal only works after the first 100 turns. The dev said it was a database issue if I remember correctly.

Well I'm at turn 300 and never got it to work. It's actually starting to be a bother now, since I'm well over max demsense size.

I believe that in another thread Pocus said that there is a bug, and it will be fixed in the future.

The 100-turn delay is only for the extra Rus' principalities, but you should be able to play with other nations. It is a bit hit-and-miss right now because of a bug that was only partially fixed in 1.01 Beta. 1.02 Beta should fix it entirely and will be available very soon.

I created several vassals as England - early on it was all about absorbing them, then when you reach the province management character limit, time to start forming them.

I think it requires a province to be governed and wholly yours, but not totally sure.
