Repeatedly Crashing
Anyone else having trouble with the stability of this game? I'm working my way through the story missions. They repeatedly crash. One of my saves in mission five won't even load anymore. It crashes the game each time I try to load it and displays the same error message:

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000044

Yes get the same in first story mission. It repeats after reload in a fight of my amobe fleet supported by carriers against attacking fleet.

What'd you already try to fix it?

There are lots of reports of the single-player campaign missions being bugged. I'm not sure if they're worth playing at the current time.

For single-player, there's the regular random map mode, but note that the longer 150-turn mode is bugged and will end after 100 turns.

Same thing is happening for me on the latest update - the save almost at the end if the first mission is on a crash loop with a similar message to OP. That said, there were a lot of freezes as well during that playthrough, just without the crash loop.

I tried restarting, both the program and my laptop. I made sure that all my drivers and game files are up-to-date.

I did a Web search for the issue. There doesn't seem to be a fix to my exact problem. There was one fix that was similar, but it required going into the files a rewriting some code. That just seemed a little too much for my expertise.

I successfully muscled my way through the single-player campaign despite the repeated crashes. I thought it was a good way to learn all the mechanics before wading into multiplayer games.

Then I went looking for a multiplayer game. The servers were dead both times I tried to find an online match. That being the case, I've given up on this game.

The main reason I picked this one up is to play a quick, online game that had qualities similar to Stellaris. Since that doesn't seem to be available, I don't see the point in continuing to troubleshoot this problem. In the meantime, I'll just stick with the Board Game Arena website until something better comes along.
Just popping in over 6 months later to say this is still an issue. Extremely sad that what should be a easy straightforward experience is frustrating and unfixable
