Any recommendations on how to pace this out?
Grabbed this game on sale since it had been on my radar for a little bit. My main concern is that I read a steam review saying that they ran out of dungeons long before they ran out of social content, so they had to spend multiple weeks just grinding out conversations before they could see everything. If this is a genuine problem, how often should I be skipping exploration and going back to town to get a fairly even balance of slaying vs yapping?

I'm not sure that was a fair critique to begin with.

The social encounters are designed to be like a build for you throughout the game. They provide different bonuses for completing them along with a little bit of perspective and backstory. Often the best bonuses are for finishing off a character's story and can't be completed without progressing in the main story to a certain point.

When you're playing through the game I would focus on the bonuses you want and/or the characters that interest you the most. You can also just skip the social scenes and train your stats in a variety of ways. I don't think it's designed around exhaustively completing all the social encounters before finishing the game and if you do it'll make the game much more drawn out.

That being said, the ratio is about 2 social encounters for every dungeon but there are a few evenings that you don't get the option of deciding what to do, so it's more like 2-3 per dungeon. Like I mentioned earlier, you can also skip them and just train your stats.

We have NG+ so we can technically pace the social stuff better. Main thing, if you go this route, is to get all the Slayers maxed out for their gear for NG+ during the first run since (IMO) it has the biggest impact game-wise.

Trying to get all the social stuff done in one game is a massive and boring drag. I'm running out of relaxation spots at day 43.
