Online play working in 2023

Is there a way to play this online with friends in the current year of our lord 2023?
I would love to fire up some old school RB6 again and play

Indeed you can still play!

This classic beauty of a game is still online with modern updates!
You just need the multiplayer patch to play online.

We also run Athena Sword, Iron Wrath, Rogue Spear and original Rainbow Six maps and of course custom maps on our servers. Brand new maps and weapons, items and terrorists to fight as well! We also have many improvements to graphics and HD hit effects etc.

Online Multiplayer Patch:

1) Get the OpenRVS 1.5 update

2) Install the Sound Update so you can hear proper multiplayer sounds from custom maps and expansions

3) Get the optimization patch also, to fix freezing/lag etc (you can edit StartFullscreen= in Ravenshield.exe if you need to)

4) Set connection speed to T3 in options menu or you will get lag!

5) Single Player (Optional) - Get dgVooDoo API as it fixes planning phase bugs and has some other features.

OTHER TIPS/INFO:
• I suggest 1920x1080 resolution for most people this looks the best.
• Right click Ravenshield.exe - Properties - Run As Admin and Compatibility for Windows XP SP3

I just reinstalled the game as well as the patches/updates above, but no servers are seen in multiplayer. Am I missing something?

Could it have something to do with the "rvsgaming.org" site going down?

The url is currently unavailable at this moment. We are working on a fix. It should be back up soon. If it is not resolved in a few days we will post an update for everyone.

But you can still JOIN IP for the time being with the ones listed in the guide or the offline server list backup that comes with the patch. Alternatively here are some IP's for the COOP servers that people like:

Just wanted to update you, here is the latest hotfix:

This hotfix restores the server list for Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield.
Works with Steam or original Retail version as well as the Ubisoft Store version.

REQUIRES OpenRVS 1.5 Multiplayer Patch first! Which you can get at https://allr6.com/discuss/viewtopic.php?id=43

If any questions just ask here.

Instructions: Just copy/merge the respective folder onto your game's folder to update.

This does not change any of your settings.

hmm. steam has placed a lot of folders on my drive as I have a lot of their games and very vague as to what folders are tied to what. Can you be a little more specific about "games's folder"? Perhaps something of a pathway example. I have found a folder called games under the steam folder. Is that it? and do I place all the folders in the download there?

Your game folder for this game should be located in:

Steam/steamapps/common/

In there you will see your Rainbow Six 3 Gold folder so just drag the Rainbow Six 3 Gold folder from the .zip onto it to merge it and overwrite and then start your game.

Thanks. I found it and placed overwrote the folder with the new folder but no effect. I can get in via direct input of the IP address so at least I can still play that way.

You have to install the 1.5 OpenRVS patch. Then the Hotfix second. As it fixes the server list reference as its been updated as of a few days ago.
