This game with mods is the best FPS I have ever played

I first got this game years ago after I'd had my fill of SWAT 3 and 4 and wanted more tactical shooter action, but I always found it too difficult and intimidating. But these days my tolerance for punishing games is a lot higher. I randomly remembered this game a few days ago and installed it on a whim, and this time I was instantly hooked. It's really impressive that a game from 2003 has better features, abilities and controls than basically every modern FPS from a AAA developer, as dumbed down for consoles as they've become. Dynamic leaning, three stances, the ability to issue orders on the fly, mission planning, go codes, up to 8 squad members that can be switched between in real time, and dynamic door opening. Just the ability to partly open a door, toss in a grenade and shut it again is awesome.

On the downside, your squad is pretty blind and braindead, the enemies aren't very dynamic, the aiming's a bit strange and the game is really showing its age visually. But even with those flaws I'd still put it up there with my favourite FPS already, so much better than the vast majority of modern FPS. But then imagine my surprise when I stumbled on the fact that an 18 year old game still has an active and very impressive mod scene which has taken the game to the next level.

Following the instructions to install all the mods listed here , as well as the Reshade setup here, the game is transformed to close to perfection. Modders have added so much - iron sights, much better squad AI, more dynamic and dangerous enemies, ragdoll, particle effects, a snake cam, an arsenal of new weapons and gadgets, HD textures and character models - and the game looks so much better than a game from 2003 has any right to look. And it all runs very stably apart from some slight glitches that are usually easily fixed. If you're not playing this game heavily modded, you're missing out.

Its funny because we are running a paid ad on Reddit for the game. Siege players are hating on it not even knowing what it is. They think Siege is the only R6. That ignorance is so cringe. They have no idea. I spent thousands of hours making maps for Rainbow Six 3 for a reason. The previous R6 titles were some of the best games ever made. Theres a very good reason why its still popular today! And why a new game I am working on is directly inspired by Rainbow Six 1998, Rogue Spear and especially Rainbow Six 3 as well as Swat 4 and early Ghost Recon.

I dont want to defend the behaviour of those people at all but i must say that their hating is probably caused by being uninformed and i guess the majority of the siege playerbase is too young to know the old titles or even tom clancy and what he was about. In this day and age younger folks dont seem to want to do research and really get engaged with any given topic, it has to be accessible and consumeable without any hurdle to overcome.

The basic concept of siege for a pvp title is a good one in my opinion. Defenders prep a building for defence and attackers try to raid it and take down the opfor and by prepping i mean things that are done in reality like killholes, tripwires that are connected to grenades and all the other nasty surprises someone can come up with.

But well enough complaining, we still got ravenshield plus ground branch in the making and i am really curious how your game will turn out, i will definitley check it out.

I've hit a wall. Maybe it's the collection of mods, maybe I just suck, but I can't clear the stupid bank level. I can be on the other side of the bank but if someone hears a shot they'll kill the hostage in the main room. If any terrorist so much as utters the first word of a sentence everyone in the bank seems to instantly know where I am and start charging at me, then someone kills the hostage. I've tried sending one or two teams up the top floor while one team attacks the first floor, but usually someone kills the damn hostage. Then the only times I've managed to stop the hostage being killed someone destroys the damn evidence right at the end of my route.

I just started playing it again. Never liked it too cause I thought it was too hard and aiming was way too off. Now with RavenShield 2.0 mod I find it amazing. Now I want to download some custom maps.

I had no interest in playing Siege. I dont care for online Multiplayer just coop. Siege I heard is ran by COD babies and if your brand new they will boot you off a game. Not gonna pay money for a game I cant play.

What essential mods should I download to get involved in the Coop community and make a better single player experience. I only got Ravenshield 2.0 downloaded.

As for modding for online you don't need to do anything other than get the Multiplayer Patch • R6 3 Multiplayer Online Patch https://allr6.com/discuss/viewtopic.php?id=3

The new guns, maps, sights/scopes, missions, models, hd hit effects, gun camo etc will automatically load when you join a server.

2.0 is always involved in jugulators tutorial so there must be a reason why he includes this.

Yeah that mission is hard, i encountered the same issues. You could try and get the guy in the surveillance room first, there is a good angle from the top of the bus. Then i would try to get the first hostage and bring her to safety afterwards i would go for the data and then get the other hostage in the basement.

I have no idea if there are any bugs t hat are mod related but or if we both suck but hey just keep trying.

I finally beat it after dozens of hours and hundreds of attempts. But I swear there's something broken about the mods and/or the level. If I sent anyone in to the main foyer on the ground floor, the hostage got instantly executed. If I sent anyone up the stairs while not being in control they'd die. So I ended up having to go up the stairs, kill everyone on all three sides of the walkway and on the ground floor, and only then could I safely send my team in. I'll check out the video now, but he might not be running the same mods.

Edit: He did more or less exactly what I did, except I had multiple teams (but I might as well not have considering how useless even the improved squad AI was in this level) and finished by killing the last terrorist (I had forgotten that wasn't a requirement because it was that long ago I started the level).
