Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Gold Edition

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Gold Edition

Extremely high FPS (Vsync doesn't work)
Just bought this game and tried it out and it runs pretty well so far, though I've only done the training missions yet.

However, my FPS are very high (600-900) and my graphics card sounds like it's dying when I play this game. I want to cap the FPS to 60 but literally nothing seems to work.
I have...
- checked the ini. UseVsync is already set to True
- run the game as admin and in compatibility mode in win xp
- tried to cap the frame rate via AMD control center

I'm running out of ideas, does somebody know how to fix this?

My system:
Win 10
Radeon RX 480
i5 7500
8 GB ram

I finally found a solution: I downloaded the d3d8.dll file from crosire's d3d8to9 wrapper that is linked in the pcgamingwiki site. Now vsync works.

Good to know I will note this in our #techsupport channel on http://www.R6CHAT.com community

Hey dude try this update: http://allr6.com/discuss/viewtopic.php?id=91

If it does not work let me know in #techsupport at http://www.R6CHAT.com
Easier to help you there.

Its strange because I also use AMD frame rate cap at 60 and it works great for me.

Thanks for your answer. After this update I get "only" about 300 FPS. Capping the frames still doesn't work. though.
Did you try to add MaxDesiredFramerate=60 to ravenshield.ini

In [WinDrv.WindowsClient], right?
Did nothing.

Just a quick update.
I noticed that literally none of the override settings from AMD work on any game I have at all. Neither anti alias, texture filtering or target frame cap have an effect on my system. I tried it on both old and new games. wtf

Thats really odd. I turned on a bit of aliasing for RVS makes it a bit smoother looking. Have you updated your driver lately?

I actually just updated my drivers because I thought this might fix this whole issue.
At least the frame cap works now (except in Ravenshield, pls kill me).
hehe are you sure you right clicked Ravenshield.exe > Properties > Run as Administrator and also Compatiblity for Windows XP Sp3 ?!?!

Yes it is.
I think I give up and just play the game as is. Thanks to the update that you've linked, the framerates at least don't reach >1000 anymore.
I appreciate your proposed solutions nevertheless.
See you in game sometime, you can post on #techsupport in http://www.R6CHAT.com and see if someone else has any other idea but mostly what I told you is what others did :)

I use RivaTuner Statistics Server to cap frames at 100 , although i use the UPLAY version of the game.

Bumping my old thread

I finally found a solution: I downloaded the d3d8.dll file from crosire's d3d8to9 wrapper that is linked in the pcgamingwiki site. Now vsync works.
