Most of the YouTube channels that post full playthroughs got done in about 5 hours (they aren’t even that skilled but they obviously know what to do so they don’t have half the video of them dying). I guess for a normal player it will be 9-10 hours max if they get stuck a bit or run around exploring.

There isnt much to explore, the game is rather linear.

There are certainly a few "more difficult" sections someone can get stucked at, but honestly it's fine.

Overall a great game experience (though 60 bucks seems harsh)

No side missions or puzzles. It’s just combat. And a couple of random minigames.

This five hours claim is false, average first playthrough in normal mode should be around 8 hours.
Sorry to disappoint you but your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ streamers probably played in cat ears mode.
Also certainly rushed the story without looking for collectibles didn't do any side content like mini games and challenges.
And also probably did some edit and huge cuts for the videos.

Funny how many people who don't even own the game like to ♥♥♥♥♥ about it here on the forum.
Most probably pirated it sadly and it will be your fault if we don't get more games like this in the future.
At least the game seems to live rent free in your head so the developers managed to get your attention I guess.

i don't understand how people are good at this. i never played ninja gaiden or anything. i know my reaction time is kinda bad but like i just don't understand how people can play it. i wanna play elden ring so bad but games like this just confirm people like me cant play and it sucks. im gonna keep trying, just so discouraging to spend hours and see little to no improvement on my part no matter what way i try and tackle the whatever obstacle.

i know about the cat mode crap and honestly, not only do i not wanna wear cat ears, i dont want to beat the game on a difficulty meant for people who suck, like me... just really sucks.

Hey don't feel too bad about your skills, the cat ears mode is there for a reason.
The game was designed to be old school difficulty, it's not harder than Sekiro or Dark Souls in my opinion but it's certainly challenging.
The key is to know when to engage in melee and when to use your guns to your advantage.
Knowing how to parry and counter will also help you immensely, it's possible to finish the game without parrying but you will have a hard time.
Practice your timings in the training mode if needed and also don't forget to spend your xp in the skill tree !

see that's what is so frustrating. i know the mechanics and what not for the most part. parry, dodge, stun with hand gun, get cover, all that. it simply comes down to my reaction skill. i have spent a minute in training and although i did see improvement after a while, its just the basic guys and i can only fight 1 maybe 2 at a time. i just can't parry. like i can but after failing 30 damn times. i dodge and use my hand gun alot and i am trying to get the parry down so that when i get the upgrade to double that time itll be easier. but like, i see the red light indication to use my gun but i always get hit by everyones first basic attack. i just cannot get the parry down consistently.

im at a part now i think on the second chapter or part or whatever. ive killed all the basic and purple guys but now this ninja who throws stars at me and ♥♥♥♥ just kills me every time.

im gonna try the neko mode thing and see if in time i can just hopefully get better. unfortunately with games kinda like this (souls) i just see no improvement on my end despite not only tryi.ng, but dedicating hours to improve. just makes me feel like ♥♥♥♥.

It's a fun game but they should've ditched the cinematic stuff that they tried to tack on and made more gameplay and levels. Not really replayable IMO because of the lack of enemies and combo variety even though what they give you is more fun than any AAA recently.

First playthrough took me 13 hours on hard, although I did wander a bit in the police station and wasted some time playing the hardest parts of the game, the noodle and karaoke mini games. But it is cut short.

A good portion of those have gameplay I’d argue is better/has more depth compared to this game and they aren’t 60 or for most 50 bucks anymore.

I agree about the price tag and I don't understand why it's not 30, or at least 40, but as far as the gameplay goes, the more you play the more it comes together. Ignoring a couple of questionable design choices and keybindings, it turns out it's pretty solid and nowhere near as junky as it may originally seem.
